I want buy a compact digicam. I want to profit from low-light abilities to take indoors fotos.

I am no professional and cannot really weigh the pros and cons that have emerged so far. I think Fujifilm F30 (F11) or Fujifilm E900, would be a good compromise (landscape and indoors, low-light) I want is good picture and min. noise.
Can anyone try to summarize them, or make an alternative suggestion?
(No subtitute for a E900?)
Thanks!

F30 or F11 anyday - the lens on the F30 is slow but the E900 is a horrible F5.6 at full zoom, a slowness only matched by the Panasonic FX01 (which at least has an image stabilizer the E900 doesn't have), this means that it'll be useless in low light if you use the zoom and doesn't have anywhere near the high ISO performance of the F30 anyway!...

even at low ISOs, I'm not sure the E900 will have much if any resolution advantage as it uses heavy noise reduction even at lowest ISO (going by the S9500 which I've used), the only advantages are the far better control layout and the Optical viewfinder (very useful for stabilizing a cam at low shutter speeds), to be honest, you'll be far better off with the cheaper Canon A620 than the E900 as a low ISO shooting tool which has a far faster lens (F4 at full zoom) and less NR all round (but still clean at ISO50/100), for High ISOs, the Fuji Fx0 rule..

It doesn't seem quite fair to compare the speed of a 4x (32-128) lens with that of a 3x (36-108) lens at the high zoom end. If you compare the lenses at the same zoom levels I believe they have almost identical speed.

I am enjoying my E900 and find it a better photographic tool than my F10.

Full manual mode, live histogram and raw-format should be available on any digital camera. Wider lens (32mm) is also nice to have.

Imaging-resource.com, digitalcamerainfo.com and photographyblog.com liked E900 a lot.

The 9.0 megapixel Fujifilm FinePix E900 is an impressive follow on to last year's 6.3 megapixel FinePix E550, which was good enough to earn a Dave's Pick. Its color is very good (if somewhat subdued), resolution excellent, and noise levels at even high ISOs are tamed very well. The FinePix E900 isn't the fastest in terms of AF speed, but it's right there in the respectable department. If you prefocus, it's a great family camera, with its f/2.8 lens handling wide angle indoor scenes very well. Its lens comes out quickly, AF points are picked quickly, and it switches between modes and menus with snap. The Fujifilm FinePix E900 is pretty good with battery power, with a worst-case run time of just over two hours with the provided rechargeable NiMH batteries. From a usability standpoint, the FinePix E900 spans a range from rank beginner (in full Auto mode) to sophisticated photographer (in full manual exposure mode). This makes it a great choice for dual- or multiple-user households, and also a good choice for someone looking for a camera that's easy to use to get started but that has additional features to offer as you become more experienced. I was impressed with the camera's performance in many dimensions, but most impressed with the print quality. For a point & shooter in such a small package to deliver acceptable 13x19 images even at ISO 800--well, that's something to write about. If you're looking for a fast, high-resolution digicam that works well in low light, the Fujifilm FinePix E900 would make a great choice. - Another "Dave's Pick" for an E-series from Fujifilm.' Do NOT, under any circumstances try to turn a compact into a dSLR camera. It just cannot be done and ANY compact will have good points and not-so-good points, compared to others.

They ALL have very good things, and ALL have things that another may do better - but it is for YOU to decide on which one best covers YOUR likely type of pic-taking.

Whilst the new F30 may well be better in some respects , it equally has a lot of things missing from its counterparts. I am very happy with the E900 , certainly as right now it is a much reduced price to that when it was in full production - but it's still that same cam and with the same valiue in many ways. The few things it now does less good than the latest, I cope with , as I have the progs to deal with it. Meanwhile I get the whole facilities of total control from it that later ones do NOT give.

You must choose on that basis - which one deals overall best for you - do you want total controls or do you want mostly just automation , to get your pics.

...except when you use RAW, where the E900 applies zero noise reduction.

e900 is good for picture many friend singing and gather in a room
you can find more angle and positions usually than f30

but compromise will be slightly noisy outcomes.

for me, e900 will be a better choise
