for more thorough cleaning.
So far--the dust issue is not a problem for me--esp. in the
viewfinder. Dust on the sensor, after a number of years with
DSLRS, is a 'given'.
I just reviewed all the brushes/systems and decided that the best value for me was to add a brush from Copperhill (Petteri's is still the cheapest solution but CH is surely reasonable). I also added a Sensor Swipe. I'm less sure of using a blower since some have reported finding dust pushed up under their screens, but so far that has worked just fine for me--but with a pretty 'light' blowing.

I do not have the problem that many are experiencing with dust.

I have my first 5D since August 29th. Second in the late Fall. I have a few really tiny specks of dust on surface behind the focusing screen, what I would consider normal for nearly everyday pro use in the outdoors, harsh enviroments. The first cam has 27,000 actuations on it. The second has 6,000 and no dust issues.

Hope that helps....

My viewfinder came clean-and is still clean after four months of use.

It was ok because I used a bulb blower to clean it out and the screen was spotless thereafter. Excellent camera anyways despite the high price.

Considerable dust in both the viewfinder and the sensor. Very moderate success in cleaning sensor, will send to factory for viewfinder cleaning.

I received my camera in clean condition.

After 3 month of heavy use the viewfinder shows 6 small specks somewhere behind the focussing screen.

If the intake of dirt continues at the given pace I will probably have to get the viewfinder cleaned in 3-6 months.

I had two hairs showing in the view finder. One was on the mirror and partially stuck to the side of it and the other was on the bottom of the focus screen. However, I am now left with one spec which won't shift easily - it's either on the focus screen and needs some liquid based cleaning or inside the viewfinder.

Both of mine are #3...

Just bought one last week and there is an air bubble inside of the prism in between the top center and top right AF point... called store and got RMA. Ordered another one on the same day and guess what? This one is bad too... there are about 25-30 tiny black spots inside of the viewfinder scattering around.
