That's right. I am holding all the members of the Olympus SLR Forum personally responsible for my recent illness. Somehow E10/20 germs have traveled through the http://www to infect me and cause me to make irrational decsions.

Though I have always liked and appreciated photography I would never have characterized myself as anything but a casual user.....focused mainly on capturing an historical record of my family life. The quality of photograph hardly ever mattered as long as it adequately captured a moment I might occasionally enjoy remembering. So why for my initial introduction into digital photography did I choose to jump off the deep end? It's all YOUR fault!!!!

After spending quite a few hours patrolling this reputable group of advisors I chose to purchase........

E20N + Kingston 256K CF from Dell.com (20% off special)
FL-40, B-32LPS LIPO Battery Set, & TCON-14B from 17photo.com
Hoya Super HVC UV filter from 2filters.com
1.25" Rubber Eyeguard from Orion

All for just over $2,775 including taxes and shipping.

I'm still shaking my head and wondering what happened. I'm in shock. Perhaps it's just a dream.......and if it is.......please don't wake me up.........I'm really enjoying this one.

I guess the only way for me to justify this expense and time spent viewing your posts is to step up to the plate and contribute. I am truely a novice and have quite a learning curve to climb but I'm committed.

Be forwarned...........you will probably see the following......

"How to" questions from TME4GLF that have already been covered on this forum....even though I know how to use the search feature.

Pictures from such dynamic settings as "P" mode.......automatic everything......assuming I will conquer the logistics of posting samples.

Advice from TME4GLF to other novices because I need to feel like I'm not the newest kid on the block.

Deep, well thought out, insightful, evaluations of your posted pictures. Since I really don't know anything my critiques might come across as thought provoking........or just plain stupid. :)

In any event.....if you are still reading this thread.......I wanted to say hello and THANK YOU!!!

Whew! glad to see I'm not on your list of people who's fault it this is! ;)

Welcome aboard...and ask away.

Hey there Michael,

Welcome aboard! As I infer from your message, you've already figured out like the rest of us that this is a train bound for financial ruin but giddy pleasure.

Looking forward to seeing posts of your work.....as well as your lucid and serene comments about all the rest of us!

BTW......did you forget to buy the WCON-08 (wide angle lens)? How about Photoshop 6? And a good printer.....maybe an Oly 400 or an Epson 1280??

Come on man.....get with it will ya??

Again welcome to you, and best wishes,

David

P.S. So what is your golf handicap, and how much time do you really have to play??

YOU have been assimilated!!!
Others will one day become ONE with the collective!
RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!!!

Welcome! ...and ENJOY!

And for the ultimate buzz, try upgrading your delicately honed computer system to Windows XP Pro and run the risk of loosing everything.
Have everything back 99%, still working on that 1%.

Michael,

Welcome to the forum...I have quickly found that there's no place else like it on the internet. There are some great people here and it amazes me how many other things that they (well, can i say we?) share beyond owning an E-10. I have to give it up to Olympus' marketing...they've obviously found a great target group for their product!

Not sure what prompted you to include MY name in your post??? I can't recall being of any help to anyone around here...and furthermore, I don't even have an E-10 anymore.....(breaks down in tears again...j/k...lol)

Best of luck...I'm hanging around and I'll certainly be back :-)

Best Regards,

Doug1tx

David,

No WCON-08 for me yet. Historically I usually end up wanting more zoom and have not yet matured enough to appreciate the full benefits of a good wide angle.

I am planning on learning Photoshop Elements that came with the E20. The full Photoshop is just too intimidating at this point........for that matter I haven't gotten off the ground with Elements yet either.

My mother-in-law just purchased the Epson 1280 so I'm hoping she won't mind me stopping by a little more in the future. I was very unsure about what I will want to do with my images.....how do I want to store them......will I want prints.......if so, how often......what's the shelf life of these prints........again its all a little overwelming. I think I may just use a dotphoto.com or photoaccess.com for print services initially. Maybe pbase.com for some album viewing and interaction with this forum.

Now that I've invested in this gear I don't have the time or $$ for golf. I've been about a 4 handicap this past year......but I'm not a tournament player.....just for fun. Maybe my license plate should now read TME4E20.

Thanks for the well wishes.

Michael

Welcome aboard the train.

Addicting isn't it? I swore back in April that I wouldn't sucome to all the accessories when I got the E10. Now it's the end of November and....
E10
TCON300
TCON14b
MCON
LIPO(on it's way)
Gaggle of expensive filters
Camera bags
etc........

I (and you) have been assimilated!!!!!!!!!

Looking forward to your posts.

Hi Michael,

Consider yourself now formally initiated into the land of E-20 addiction!

I'm learning so much from the good people on this forum, I'm sure I'll learn quite a bit from you too, as I'm also a novice at this photography thing.

You'll have a great time with your new toy, as you can see there are many helpful people here.

regards,
blang

Michael it seems you have an E-20 fetish! You are one sick puppy now! Welcome to the forum!

Welcome, Michael. You won't have much time for golf (assuming that's what your name means...:o). But seriously, congratulations and feel free to ask away! K.

Welcome to the insane asylum. Michael. One thing, though, you'll probably have to change your handle. Because after getting the E, you WON'T have time .

Hi Michael,

Congratulation on your purchase of a Great Camera. I don't post much here but I am a novice and read it everyday,"like a good student should". The advise and knowledge on this forum is priceless not counting the friendless of such wonderful people. I look forward to seeing some of your photos. Good Luck with your E-20 and welcome aboard.

Howdy Micheal,

Thanks for the wonderful honor of making your list of blame. :o)

Although you have the newer of the two camera's I'll always try to help as best I can, although most of the others are far more knowledgeble than I.

It is a great group of people here, and what makes it even more fanstastic is the diversity of locations. World leaders should come here and take a lesson on peaceful co-existance. (as long as they don't mention Canon Nikon or Minolta ;o)

Enjoy, and get ready to make more purchase's. I bought my E10 last January. Since then all I've been doing is getting this and that, so that I can a shot of those and them.

Vance.
