Sunset San Francisco H1 (2 imgs)

By the way...lovely picture! I like the first especially, as it just has a really neat, soft light and great colors.

That is indeed the Farallone Islands. Amazing how the telephoto makes everything seem to close - Alcatraz looks like it is almost sitting under the bridge, and the Farallones look like they are right behind.

It's about 40 miles away!

I just LOVED that first shot as you had it. A real wall-hanger.

I was thinking that in #2 the yellow highlights pulled the eye a little too much. But I know, some sunsets are just so vibrant that they cannot be believed.

Hard to say how far. In the White Paper, I focused on a building more than 4 miles away. As for 26 miles? I doubt you'll get any really good resolution, but it sure will bring it closer.

You'll have to try it.

Let me know how you make out.
how far is the reach of the DH1758? (If you answered this in the
Whitepaper, I only donated ;-)) haven't had a chance to read it yet)

On that 1st photo, I think the land mass is the Farallones rising
up behind the bridge but we are talking a lot of miles....26 from
SF and I was in the Berkeley Hills. Possible??

Thanks for your comments, too. Always appreciated.

Cheers, Denise

...and I'm pleased that some Sony people in here still put up the odd serious photograph. I've had enough ducks.

Thanks, Mesh!! When you get to live in an area this spectacular, you need to go out and enjoy what nature gives you. I dragged myself off the couch and hubby and I drove 30 minutes so I could shoot some City lights for the Challenge. I was rewarded with an incredible sunset.

I wish everyone could experience standing up in the hills looking over the Bay. I visited here 27 years ago and stood on those hills...went back to NJ & convinced hubby we had to "go west". 2 years later, we moved here and I still feel like we are on vacation!!
