hi,

has anyone had any experience with infared photogaphry with the G2/G1 ??

anyone with pics to share?

does anyone know of any websites that guide novices like towards taking infared photos with G2/G1??

Hi az!

This might help as a first approach:

It's more a link about IR (and galleries links) with digicams, not especially the G's.

And search the forum for Diane B Fields' IR-Gallery - I lost the link.

Do a search of this forum for infrared (with an r after the f)...

I started a thread a while back with a comparison of G1 and G2 results (the G1 is better but the G2 is usable).

In the meantime here are two versions of the G1 test shot:

Put a Hoya R-72 filter on the cmera, put the camera on a tripod, try to use f8 when possible and experiment. The film's free!

Hi Az,

I've had some experience with the G1 and IR. It's a blast! I used the Hoya R72 IR filter and it worked like a charm. You can see the IR'd image clearly by looking in the LCD. Try it, you'll love it.

Hey there AZ-

I have a G1 and have taken a few IR pictures with it. You can see a few of them at:

A few of them I tweaked the hue in photoshop to go for different effects, but otherwise,they are unmodified from what came out of the camera.

Well, thanks Chris for the mention. I've been gone for awhile---business.

I have also done a little tutorial on another forum--not sure if it is up yet though (nope, just checked).

It is my understanding that the G2 now has a Hot Mirror setup, which may make difficult to get good IR shots.
