act with your wallet - no need to post here about it.

the world can make up their own mind about how much to pay.

... sold for $1900 ....some folks have more money than brains...

When I post that a legit camera store is taking advantage of people's desire for a camera...and jacking up the price thats not to be posted..I guess its important that every freakin person who ordered a camera from the Ritz has the need to start a new thread to let us know his camera has shipped...give me a break will you....What Dpreview needs now are samples of pics..not idiots posting my camera shipped....Im happy for all..there should be one thread on this not a hundred....JA

I agree Mike - If they started their auction at !699 and it end at 3000
then good for them but to start at 1899.

that company has been ripping people off for more than 10 years
they have NEVER been known as honest folks
and they don't really pretend to be
B&H
ADORAMA
stick with them when it comes to the larger internet photog providers
and avoid all others.... and you'll be fine
funny post from you.... you sound so surprised about them....
those of us who've been around for a long time..... already knew that
you should have asked

Have you been ripped off by Bill Cameta?

Hi,

You might be interested to know that the D200 prices from that E-Bay dealer, are still a lot cheaper than we pay in UK.

The D200 (body only) here is the equivalent of 2121 of your USA dollars.

Just to put things in perspective perhaps !!

Seasons Greetings.

Sorry for my Ali impersonation.

Cameta rocks! As long as they didn't take "pre-orders" and burned you by doing this instead then I see NO problem. And if you do then YOU are the one with the problem.

I've bought nearly as much from Cameta as I have from B&H and Adorama each, and I far prefer Cameta any day of the week over the other product pushers.

If you shoot Nikon don't argue with Canon measurbators, they have much longer rulers.

JW,

What a dumb thing to say...no I havent been ripped off by him because I refuse to give my money to thiefs...If I were Nikon I wouldnt be giving them stock...how do u like that....imagine if all the camera stores were overcharging for the camera....would that be fair to the public? The Suggested retail price is what legit camera stores should be charging..end of story...especially if they are an authorized Nikon Dealer...Cameta Camera is taking advantage of the public..thats my point....and maybe Im new to the world ....whats the point....

I know of two people here in Australia that have dealt extensively with Cameta. D70 bodies, lenses, batteries, everything. From what I have seen Cameta are spot on with better than Adorama and B&H pricing, and provide faultless service, even to us over here in Australia.

As for the pricing on that one you mention, look at the ebay link, its an auction which means its powered by consumers, not Cameta. Look at the bidders ID and if you want to have a rant - he/she is the culprit.

The price Maxwell here in Australia has given the D200 will see an avalanche of D200 orders be placed overseas, including mine, and Cameta is where I intend to purchase from together with a few lenses actually - but alas, I doubt I'll be going through ebay.

I dont mean to insult your intelligence...but the 1899.00 buy it now price was fixed by Cameta Camera...not powered by Ebay...Cameta camera knows the camera is limited release...so therefore they are jacking up the price...whats your point...I dont think you have one..but if you feel like supporting them by all means pay extra for the camera..I wont give them a penny...

One last thing Jimbuck...Cametaauctions = Cameta Camera...just in case you didnt get that....lol...

Same here. I've bought from Cameta before, along with the others mentioned in this post. I have no problems with any of them. The D200 referenced, is in fact an auction item, too much $$$, ... don't bid, it's that simple.

So what? If you do not like the price, people go to a competitor. That is the free market.

The alternative is price fixing and everyone pays more, but at least they all overpay the same amount.

Unless you must buy it now (assuming they have it in stock) I would wait. It is a self correcting problem.

Well I for one do NOT think Cameta is as honest as they should be being an authorized dealer. I was pretty upset when I purchased a SB800 thinking it was a factory demo only to get a refubished flash....and to me there IS a difference). As for selling the D200 for more than what Nikon suggests than I guess they have the right to do so as anyone buying a D200 know what it's selling for at other dealers. Guess it's a good deal for those in the UK so maybe that's who Cameta is marketing. Who knows. Oh well. If someone wants something bad enough than they have the choice of paying more.

Personally I think it's great that you posted and brought to attention that Cametta is overcharging.

Thank you hoggy for sticking up for me...the point of the post was to point out that they were overcharging...for you guys in Europe or Australia...I guess your use to getting ripped off...for you 1899.00 must seem like a bargain....since I've seen the pricing outside of the US. I understand that...and Im sure you'll get a brand new freshly sealed box from Cameta...I just feel they are taking advantage...of the public...my opinion...end of story...goodnite all....lol....

I disagree with that line of reasoning. Venders are free to post the price of their choice as long as it doesn't violate antitrust laws.

Someone bought it at $1899 and is prepared to pay that, you may not and that is your choice. Now, if you bought it at that price and complained afterwards that you payed too much; well, that is your right, but people would just think you were acting foolish.

Why not ask the buyer if he felt he was taken advantage of? After all it was HIS money NOT yours.

You do have a right to your opinion, but you don't have a right to expect everybody to take it seriously.
