Have you guys seen these G2 Photos....

Thanks, Bryan. I actually share a lot of your concerns about the 707. It does appear noisier than the G2 and the colors aren't as natural. However, it also has many virtues, so I'm waiting and watching to see how things develop.

Who knows? Maybe somebody will offer me a good deal on a slightly used F707. ;-)

Ron
OK Jerry. I'll bite. Here is one of my S85 albums:
Looks pretty danged good to me. Now get out there and buy the F707
and show what the thing can do, OK?

Looks like you could single-handedly shut down this thread in a
heartbeat. ;)

Please,
What is the URL to his Anders photo galleries???
Thank You
Leo
These pictures are excellent IMO (most are ISO 50 on a tripod). I
have been watching the G2 threads in the Canon forum (which haven't
been that great) when I came upon these pictures. Would love to
see more of this kind of photography from the F707. BTW this is
his first digital camera....I'm still waiting to hear the final
verdict from the 2 people on this forum that have bought the F707 &
the G2 to do comparison shots. I by the way am impatiently
awaiting the arrival of my F707 from Sears.

Hey Bryan...looking forward to your posts. I'm wondering if there is any in camera way of toning down the colors a bit. When is that darn camera arriving anyway? I've also enjoyed your posts of G2 pics. Good color all the way it looks like to me. Anyway my wife says "Buy a camera and be done with it". I think your posts will help me finalize my decision. Thanks again.

My camera is supposed to arrive this coming Tuesday, according to Sears... for sure this time (they say).

You have a great idea for lines, composition and the use of light. Now I think about it that petty much covers the bases :-)

Really liked many of the shots. Your B&W's are fab!

i think it was 1167 with the green leaves - illustrates the challenge with Sony and radioavctive green as i call it. Was that really the color of the leaves?

I also noticed that these were mainly very still, slkightyly detached shots with nary a person to be seen.

Any more?

Any deficiencies here are the photgrapher's, not the camera's.

Hi Rob,

Thanks very much for the comments:

I may have done an auto-levels on this one. Here's a link to the original:

I feel uncomfortable posting shots of people without their permission. I do have a few people shots around if you want to push the discussion in a, "Can the S85 do flesh tones?" direction. My short answer is that it has a lot of trouble with flesh tones with flash.
Any more?
Here's a link that includes a few enlargements and some more shots from that same outings. I don't like the second batch quite as much as the first, however:

I have lots of other galleries online for which I can provide links, but I suspect everybody is getting tired of these by now...

Nice work, Ron. i especially like the B&W stuff personally, but there are some great color shots, too. Biltmore's a great place to take pictures. Of course that whole part of Carolina is nice. My father-in-law has a summer house a few miles up the Parkway from there, near Boone, and we love that area. Just don't get down there often enough.

Not at all. Especially the Asheville collection, but you somehow manage to create photos that, while being strong technically, don't feel like one is being hit over the head with the "I'm a professional studio photographer and I'm superman" sledgehammer that certain of the Canon G1/2 types have been criticized for here recently. You've got just the right touch of low key so that one doesn't get tired of them.
