Still Life with the D2x

They are simply elegant and the sharpness and colour beautiful.

What is ACR....btw.

HI Bobbie
Hi Jono,

All the photos you posted are just great. The fine details show so
well. You are certainly a master at capturing images.
Thank you!
I am a long time fan of your work and remembered when you posted
photos of the "Smoking Horses" and the beach scene with the
reflection in the sand and countless more.
Wow - you have a better memory than I do! I'm very flattered.
I also recalled that
you were shooting the 14 Meg Kodak "n" and I see that you have
switched to a D2X.

What is your opinion of the D2x and what lens do use the most? I
just purchased a D2X and would sure appreciate you opinion on what
lenses are your favorite.
I think the D2x is almost perfect - I just wish it was the size of an F100, but it seems that I'm nearly alone here - it's not the weight, it's just so damned ostentatious!

As for lenses, same old information I think:
17-55 nikkor f2.8
70-200 nikkor f2.8

These are excellent lenses and work really well with the D2x (do check them for soft edges when you buy them though - seems to be variable quality).

in addition I'm using:
10-20 Sigma wide angle
not perfect, but pretty good, small and neat.

1.7 TC (with the 17-200) - I tried the 2.0 TC but it was awful - this is fine.

I also have
80-400 AFS nikkor (great, but not as good as the 70-200)
105mm Sigma macro (wonderfully sharp)
24-120 VR nikkor (also fine, but not as sharp as the other two)

Sigma 12-24 - has served me very well, but is now replaced with the 10-20, and will shortly be off to ebay.
Also do you still post on photosig?
No - it takes up so much time - I still look occasionally though.

I hope this is of use,

Kind Regards
Jono

Jono,

Thanks for information on your D2X and your arsenal of lenses. I think you have more lenses than the local camera store in my town and just a few of your lenses are worth more than the assets of the little bank next door to the camera store.

I don't do much on photosig anymore either.

I really enjoyed seeing some more of your work here on DP and I have added your site to my favorites list.

Happy shooting and glad to be in touch iwht you again.

Bobbie J.

Winter is coming on; it has been grey skies for the last 4 days; we are in the midst of a nor'easter; and not even my D2X could withstand the lashings from the northward-migrating 'Wilma' were I to venture out to photograph the sodden remains of my once bountiful garden here in N.J.; gloom, gloom.... And suddenly here is Jono with INSPIRATION !! Yeeeessssss !!! I truly hope that "Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Respect", because now I am totally PUMPED to set up my odds 'n' ends of onions, mini-pumpkins, apples and whatnot and see what develops D2X-wise from the kitchen table a la Slack. Thanks J !!! I always enjoy and learn from your work.
Cheers -- Anne Di
