The super zoom advantage....v DSLR Why full frame is overplayed!

Yet alone 500%. What you do not understand is that not everyone has the same levels of quality that you do. There are some that actually see the difference between a Gaussian Blur and real optically formed bokeh. Noise is one aspect. Sharpness is another. DOF is yet another. Photography as an artistic medium needs to allow creative freedom within several parameters. There is no "one-size-fits-all" that you are looking for. For many (most) the 2/3 sized sensor is more than adequate. For others the APS-C sized or even FF is a better fit. I still have friends that do exclusively 4X5 and make a living at it.

You really want the death of 35mm FF for some odd reason. For many, it is a perfect fit. Why does that bother you so much?

Please explain. What things? Thank you!
Make telephoto shots with a relatively light weight, hand held, stabilized zoom lens at fields of view which would take a tripod, head, and much larger, and heavier lens to get with any currently available full frame sensor body. Have high frame rates which are often needed to get those special shots.....

Somtimes it's simply not physically possible to carry the weight and bulk necessary to use a full frame camera and associated lenses for wildlife work.

You'll find that few action sports photographers will give up their crop factor sensor cameras for any of today's full frame cameras.

There is a pretty strong argument for the four thirds sensor,
anyone who is interested follow the link to the olympus website:

http://www.olympus-pro.co.uk/index.eu.uk.html?content=/eu/uk/product/e300.html
The E-1 - which is the first four/thirds camera I'm aware of - was announced in June 2003.

The E-300 to which you direct us was announced a year ago (Sept 2004)

"anyone who is interested"??

You make it sound like this is a recent announcement.

But, then again, just because I've given the four/thirds serious consideration doesn't mean everyone else has. :)

So whats up with the four thirds system? Looked good to me?

So what if that was last year? Not everyone wants a step back to the old 35mm size! This is digital now, I still use 35mm but see no reason to use it for digital.

Best digital solution on the market for general photography and many pro uses. I have an E-1, two lenses, and other accessories. Wonderful stuff. Drop that 35mm and go Zuiko!

There are lots of good reasons for 35mm FF digital. I'm trying to think of them right now. Hmmm...no luck so far.

(just having fun folks)

With Olympus's standard quality lenses. But don't expect to see 24+MP on that form factor anytime soon. If you do mostly 8X10 then 5-6MP is perfect. But just because the 4/3 system is good does not mean that 36X24mm FF is bad.

And the numerous, happy E-1 and E-300 owners on the Olympus forums will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with you in that regard.
So what if that was last year?
My initial reaction to your post was that you thought you had discovered something new, which the rest of us hadn't seen yet. I apologize if I was mistaken.
Not everyone wants a step back to
the old 35mm size!
And conversely, not everyone doesn't want to. (step back, that is).
This is digital now, I still use 35mm but see no
reason to use it for digital.
See no reason? ;-)

Nah, that one's too easy.

I have read several people explain why they want FF. Does it really matter that neither you nor I have any need for it? If they want to buy a FF camera, let them.

I wouldn't tell them not to buy FF, any more than I would want them telling me I shouldn't buy a non-FF camera.

How many people print larger than 8X10's? All many people post full
size, 8MP pictures. Sheeez, most people are posting 0.2 MP images
and saying "look at how great my pictures are." And people are
responding "your Mark III super camera really looks good, no noise,
can clearly tell the difference." What rubbish!

If you need what I'll call 20"X30" quality go for it. But in the
history of film and now digital, almost NO one prints above 8X10.
Almost any digital camera will do this and larger, so noise and
quality issues are less important.
The ones who print larger than 8x10 are the ones that like/need the higher end DLSR's. None of my clients would accept low end high noise images, not because the are snobs - but because the industry demands higher standards - So size, quailty and noise are BIG issues.

A 1mp camera phone would be fine for BF (it's the photographer not the camera, right?)
That's why Canon and other dSLR vendors are in trouble with their
focusing systems. Good enough for film where the consumer got 5X7's
from their local drugstore, but right or wrong, not always good
enough for 100% viewing on their monitor.
Sense when is Canon in trouble with their focusing systems?! My 1D is dead on.
I'd much rather have a top of the line prosumer than a entry level
dLSR with a kit lens. Noise has never ruined a picture, but I can
see the difference in sharpness at the 8X10 level and their NOTHING
you can do about it.
Good for you, go buy a prosumer and leave the rest of us alone.

As for the rest of what you said... WTH are you talking about?!
I'd say there are maybe four classes of photographer. The pure
amateur, who takes snapshots. The talented amateur, who knows how
to work to with equipment he has and knows the tradeoffs, and can
live with whatever equipment, be what it may. The professional,
similar to the amateur but who is forced to work in difficult
situations and for difficult clients, and so needs a better class
of equipment, but can use anything - it's all just a tool to him.
Sounds like you have no clue as to the different levels, degrees and varieties of "professional" photographers.

Sounds like class envy to me. There are all kinds of collectors, collecting camera equipment doesn't make anyone a "bad" person.

I agree examining a digital image at 200% is usually rather pointless (at 200% it's pixelated), but no one has to justify doing it if that's what they want to do. People have discriminating tastes and look down their noses at people for all sorts of reasons; they're not wearing the right clothes, they don't believe a certain political or religious point of view, They hate your football team, you drink red wine with fish (or is it white wine with fish?) etc.

But none of that is the point either. The point here is to get this thread to 150, and BF will keep fanning the flames with insane statements. And yes, there are enough people like me who will respond to it, until we get bored. Because no one really thinks BF will every learn anything and is doom to live his life as a legend in his own mind.

Hmmm I thanks for the comments. They are no brainers for sure! Guess you are a George Bush kinda guy......I speak but it dont make sense!

Yeah you got me on that, genius!

Just stick to the topic and not people!

The whole idea of the forum is debate, good and bad, just keep it that way

The comments were not directed to you - you narcissistic peon.

"No brainers" is a comment usually associated with being obviously correct - so that means you agree with me. There may be hope for you yet! :-D

No comment - I really don't want to hear your politcal views.
