www.dpreview.com -- popup in every click?!?!?!?!?!

really doesn't have anything to do with dpreview. your system is infected with adware from some other source. download microsoft's anti spyware software , or some other vendor's (spybot, etc)

We have never ever had pop-up ads on this site. You clearly have spyware installed on your PC. You should check before making such alarming statements on the forums.
It is so annoying!

the popup is http://login.tracking101.com/ez/cnexzplenx/&dp=0&l=0&p=0
anyone knows how to stop the site popup?
I do try sypbot, microsoft antispyware and adaware and still cannot
stop it. and it is only happen on this site.
The heavy duty tool is: "hijackthis" ... it can be dowloaded here:

http://hijackthis.de/

But I was looking here:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/index.php?showtutorial=42

And see they say:

"HijackThis should only be used if your browser or computer is still having problems after running Spybot or another Spyware/Hijacker remover. HijackThis is an advanced tool, and therefore requires advanced knowledge about Windows and operating systems in general. If you delete items that it shows, without knowing what they are, it can lead to other problems such as your Internet no longer working or problems with running Windows itself. You should also attempt to clean the Spyware/Hijacker/Trojan with all other methods before using HijackThis".

But I'd really guess it can get rid of that "tracking101" thing for you.

I'll assume that you're using Windows Internet Explorer.
Here are 3 suggestions, please pursue them in the order given.

First, let's make sure that you've done all that you can do with Spybot:

Run Spybot, press "Update", press "Search for Updates",
select all available updates (if any) and press "Download".

Press the "Immunize" button. If you see a "Warning" message
that says "... additional protections possible, please immunize", then
press the green "+" button to complete the 'immunization' process.
Finally, turn on the option to "Enable permanent blocking ..." and
"Block all bad pages silently."

Next, quit and restart Internet Explorer.
In Internet Explorer's "View" menu, select "Internet Options".
The Internet Options window appears.

Click the "Security" tab. Click "Restricted Sites" (the red circle).
Click the "Sites" button (just beneath the red circle).
The Restricted Sites window appears.

In the box labeled "Add this Web site to the zone", type:

.tracking101.com

Then press the "Add" button.
Press "OK" to dismiss the Restricted Sites window.
Press "OK" to dismiss the Internet Options window.

Hopefully this may help to prevent popups from tracking101.com.

If you have Windows XP with Service Pack 2 installed,
Internet Explorer has a popup blocker. Try setting it
to the "High" setting, as explained here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/web/sp2_popupblocker.mspx
To block pop-ups even if they are launched when you
click a link or button on a Web site:

1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, point to Pop-up Blocker,
and then click Pop-up Blocker Settings.
3. Select the High setting in the box near the
bottom of the dialog box.
(If that setting causes problems with some sites which use
pop-up windows for legitimate purposes, you can use the Ctrl key
to override the blocker, or change the setting back to "Medium"
temporarily.)

Good advice so far but have you tried the obvious?

Delete all your cookies and temp internet files (online and offline). IOW, do the most basic cleaning process.
Don't do this unless you remember all your passwords though.

I think you have adware or spyware on your computer but doing the above couldn't hurt.

Robert

Using Internet Explorer? Go to Tools, Internet Options, Security, Restricted and Sites. There you will ad the offending URL.

Cheers,bg

P.S., I'm terrible at proof reading my posts for spelling errors,so I use ieSpell with Internet Explorer and SpellBound with Firefox(both are free).Once installed, I just Right-click on my message here and select Check Spelling. Now,would someone give me a link to a grammar checker for forum messages ;)

I found tracking101 in Excel (2 files). I don't know if this is any help to you but it worries me.

Robert

If you find out where they're coming from I'd appreciate you sending us feedback these scam artists are making money off our site on the back of spyware on your system.
I am also having this problem. I thought it was Spyware, but i did
a scan with the latest Spybot, on TWO totally independent systems,
and I still get the pop ups in dpreview. VERY annoying indeed.

All the information that I have is in my precious posts Phil.
It is stopped automatic this afternoon, so I don't thing it is from my computer.
Hope you can find out who is using your site for advertisement.

Hmm... very odd, what were the ads for?

It is absolutely in your computer or somewhere between your computer and the website. Somebody may have hijacked your ISP's DNS server cache or something like that. The problem is NOT with the site, and the longer you keep insisting it is, the longer it's going to be before you actually solve the problem.
