Adam:I think they vary but I'd not let it bother you - one of the best
cheap lenses ever made (the Olympus 14-45 Kit lens for the E300) is
made in China and some of the worst lenses imaginable (Cosina) are
made in Japan..
I may be wrong here, but the lenses you refer to that were released under the name 'Voightlander' are quite old ones and the actual Voightlander was bought by Cosina some years ago. So, actual Voightlander lenses may not be so good as before...Adam:I think they vary but I'd not let it bother you - one of the best

Although Cosina might make some cheap SLR lenses, they also make
some of the best 35mm lenses in the world under the Voightlander
name for rangefinders. These compete very favorably to Leica glass
and some lenses in their line are better than Leica. I still have
the 15mm Heliar which is probably the finest rectilinear wide angle
lens in this focal length. I used to have the Voightlander 25mm
Color skopar and the 35mm f/1.7 Ultron which was also a killer lens.

[zip]I'm not referring to the old Voightlander lenses but the modern
rangefinder lenses that are excellent and comparable in quality to
the Leica rangefinder lenses.
