Just came back from Tokyo.

They are selling the D2X for 466,000 Yen (~$ 4,600) at the major electronics stores in Shinjuku (with an additional 10% points discount which you can redeem by buying additional stuff). Lead time 1 month.

Nikon usually sells at lower price points in the US. I would expect the price in the US to come down to below $4,400 after the waiting lists have been worked off.

What are you currently paying for the D2X ?

In the UK the price recommended MRP is £3500, ie $6700. There are some retailers advertising them for just under £3000 ($5700), but as they are like as rare as Rocking Horse Poo then the adverts are a figment of the advertiser's imagination.

I cannot see anybody selling them for under £3250 ($6200 )in the UK for months to come.

Jessops quoted me £3,175 - I know they have no stock just now but have 105 on order with Nikon.

Most people are paying around $5K, but I agree with you the price will drop to $4.3K at the end of the year.

Which stores in Tokyo sell it for 466,000 Yen? Everywhere I look, I only see the 498,000 Yen price.

HI Bob

I paid just under £3500 for mine - the dealer said the price would drop when there was free stock, but that margins were generally tight, and this was one of the few times where they could make a decent profit! (honest, and understandable).

But this price includes the VAT - the actual price was £2995 - which is what you end up paying as long as your VAT registered. Wouldn't it be fairer to compare with this price?
