the whole idea is to show it looks dirty? I missed that then if it is the story then yes pick the one that looks dirty with the dirty smoke coming out of the mouth.Hm, I would have thought that was the whole idea behind the story.
--I cannot stand the people smoking..so I would pick those that you
don'T seee the smoke coming from her mouth. I think (at least to
me) that look dirty.
--I think that it looks dirty to see people with cigarette smoke.
They smell bad and they look bad.
yuck..someone did that? That's like saying the people who don't like the exhibit by that
guy who smeared feces on canvases and called it art don't get the
idea behind his 'paintings'.
--Disgusting is disgusting... if that's your reaction to the photo,
I'm not going to blame someone for letting that cloud their opinion
of the photos... that IS the opinion of the photos.
And I agree with them.
--For my next photo class assignment, I have to submit "3 b&w photos
that tell a story about someone you know." I took these photos, but
I can't decide on the final 3. Can someone help me pick 3? They
have to be collectively coherent, more or less.
The quality isn't fantastic, as they are second-generation jpegs (I
have the original jpegs). All were shot with the 300D and Tamron
28-75mm at f2.8 or f3.5 and then converted to black&white or
black&white w/tint tones (thank you, Johny's B&W photoshop plug-in).
Do they suck, by the way???

there is nothing sexy about smoking. it's disgusting and dirty.
My ex was smoking and I could not kiss him. I could not get
anywhere near him when he had just smoked. He had to quick smoking
for one day before I could kiss him without puking.

... I'd say that I like the more close-up pictures most. And I'd
pick #3 and the last picture as the ones I like.
However, I would think again about the "message" you want to relay.
Is smoking good and should be be made into a positive thing? To me
the girl is way to beautiful to be smoking and enjoying it. She
could eat a fresh strawberry and any picture would be a "wow!"
picture. The smoking in the photo's leaves you a with a bit of bad
taste.
Sorry, I don't want to pick two, so I picked the less "smoking"
pictures of them all. The last photo I like, beside the cig in her
hand. Lovely and warm face and laugh.

do you still think they are sexy when you actualy have to kiss them? Thanks to all who replied.
Personally, I hate smoking myself. I've never smoked in my life and
never plan to. For this photo assignment, I bought cigarettes for
the first time in my life ("hi, I'd like to join Marlboro Country
please").
The only reason I photographed this subject was: (a) I thought the
subject matched my assignment's theme; (b) I like the look of thick
cigarette smoke in black&white photos; and (c) I think women who
smoke are sexy as all git out.
--I suppose I could have photographed this girl eating strawberries
or something else, but I wanted a more dramatic and somewhat
lascivious look. That girl by the way is a classmate and had not
smoked since high school.

--Hi Daniella, you said you live in the San Jose area, no? Do you
know of a good camera store that rents out Canon L lenses?

--These are nice pictures in their own right but you are not meeting
the objective. All you are telling us is that this woman smokes.
That’s hardly a story and is not exactly interesting. Tell us more
please.
