Has anyone here made the jump and experienced lens limitations?

I currently have:
Canon 17-40mm f/4-22 L
Sigma 24-70mm f2.8-32 EX
Sigma 70-200 f2.8-32 EX
Sigma 50-500mm F4/6.3
Sigma 1.4 and 2x converters (basically unusable 'cause blurring)

I've heard that perhaps the Sigmas aren't high enough quality and that to benefit from the 1DSII increased resolution, etc. in full frame that new lenses will be in order.

Getting the 1DSII is a real stretch for me financially and I'm hoping I won't have to budget $1400 for Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS or $2200 EF 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6L IS USM

You'll be fine with the 17-40L and i'm sure the 70-200EX and Bigma will be OK too but i'm not sure about the 24-70EX, I'd personally replace that with a 24-70L

I agree: Even on a 10D a friend's 24-70EX looks soft to me.

The 17-40 is OK on a 1Ds but from 24 up other lenses such as the
24-70L are noticeably better, especially on prints. It's not just
resolution (although that can be seen clearly on prints) but
colour and contrast (presumably better MTF showing up).

Depends why you bought a 1DsII, but if it was for image quality (and not
say body quality or AF), then I suspect you will want the best lenses
available in due course.
