It is -15 F with the windshield factor. I came out of my dayoff morning shoot and my daughter asked me to take a few pictures, I had my VR 70-200 on the camera so I asked her where she wanted to do the picture, she replied in the stairs. She sat down and we did about 12 shots, she then said, OK, enough thx and bye ...

Here is the one I like better.

Beautiful photo.

You made good use of time indoors on a cold day!

Yves,

Beautiful skin tone and highlights in the hair. I find that to be the most challenging aspect of available light photography. For some reason the light is always just right for people like you and Ron R. In his case, birds sit suspended in time with a minnow suspended between their beaks, waiting patiently for him to casually snap the picture.

In my case, the bird sits there and looks at me like I'm a jerk, until I keel over with exhaustion. Then the bird grabs the minnow, suspends it in mid-air for 10 seconds, and slowly flies away just at the perfect angle. Then the available light always puts the highlights and the shadows totally out of the DR of my camera :-))))

Regards,
Neil

Yves,

That's a lovely portrait of your delightful daughter, as usual.

However, and here I seem to be in the minority, there is something about this image that doesn't quite work for me. I've come back a couple of times and on different monitors, but can't put my finger on it.

Hope you don't mind me asking... as I say, the shot is excellent, so I think it must be a setup difference, especially as having a 70-200 I am familiar with it...

So, dare I ask if you've done anything different here - or am I losing it big time?

Just re-read this - so am more confused!

Most folks I wouldn't worry - but your work is very distinctive...and this seems different in some way. Hmmm.

Been there, done that, got plenty of wasted shots to prove it (for those moments just before I hit the ground... :-) ).

Yves,

You are blessed not only with a beautiful family (not only your daughter but I remember seeing pics of your wife a while back), but your daughter actually ASKS you to take pictures of her! Incredible. Most of my family members run when I pull out the camera...

As per your usual, nicely done. Great use of available light, good comp, exposure, and focus.

I always enjoy your posts!

You have a lovely little girl and she is definitely photogenic in addition to having a DAD who is a good photographer and knows she is very special.
Congratulations on all accounts

In So Cali. It rained almost non-stop for the last two weeks.

Great shot of your daughter! I always love seeing photos of your daughter!

I'm lucky my daughter loves to have her pic taken and I usually quit before she does, and she's always saying "take more pictures!"

Gregory

Hi Yves,

Nice soft lighting on this one. I think you created a monster (I mean model) with your little cutie! I can't believe that she is asking you to take her picture now. My nieces mostly run for cover when I bring the camera out.

If it were me I would stay in the house and shoot also. Here you have a cute model asking you to take her picture which is the best of all situations. Nice image Yves and I am glad that you continue to share them with us.

I don't think you are losing it ... lol

I haven't done anything very different here I am affraid. You are allowed to not like everything you see, it makes you a normal person I think, an unblind one that is.

What is this Windsheild factor you speak of?

You must surely mean Wind Chill Factor?

I invite you to my neck of the woods, -15 is nothing : )
