Introduce yourselves....

Nothing special

Greetings 2005 & D70 Forum! It is fun to see who is behind all the
postings. I'll get it started. This is our family--obviously Mac
fans! I'm the Mom!

If possible, make it a 2005 photo--or at least December 2004!

Best wishes,
Janice

Thank you very much for your kind words!

Is it snowing? It never snows here! I wish I could have a chance to shoot some snow! I would come to finland but I am a student and I can't afford it :( I only have one snowy picture!

Thanks again :)
Looked at some of your pics, with one word AWESOME! :)
Have to take deeper look, when i get to home.
Signed in to fotopic yesterday, don't know how to add a link to
your gallery, but going to find out that later today.
I hope we'll get some sunny days soon in finland, kinda grey and
snowy in here :(

Rafael,

It is rather warm here, too, (Northern UT) for this time of the year. Don't have a thermometer around, but it has to be at least in the high 50s. Unbelievably nice for January.

Do you know what program it takes?

Yes, it has been a fun thread. Thanks for adding to it.

Best,
Janice
Thanks, Janice! Yes, it gets cold - most of the time. Today,
however, it is a balmy 61 degrees, and it looks like it will stay
like this for a few days. My wife loves it!

The noses were her idea - ever since she saw Ali McBeal wearing
one, she has been after one of them. I finally found some on eBay
and bought them for her.

I believe the m515 can trigger the D70 as well. There is a program
that is aimed to making your PDA function as a TV remote; it has a
learning mode where you can program any button - that's what I
used. (You can also trigger the D70 with a cheap RCA Universal TV
remote).

This is a fun thread, I am glad you started it.

Bob,

Nice job! Of course you are welcome here. I had (until December 25th) a D100, too. It went to my daughter as a part of her Christmas. I used to "haunt" the D100 Forum all the time, but have landed here because of my D70 that I love!

Thanks for the explanation of how you did the photograph. Will have to remember it for the future! Hope your wife likes her new camera--and that she will join the forum.

Happy New Year to you as well!

Best,
Janice
Here we are:

2004's Christmas Card.
Used a tripod and exposed for the lights on the tree, mantle and
the flames in the fireplace. Then a second shot without moving the
camera using a large and medium softbox. Layered in PhotoShop and
erased the tree, mantle and fireplace to allow the lights and
flames to show through where they would have been washed out in the
flash shot.

This was shot with my D100, but it is posted in this forum because
two of those presents under the tree are a D70 and SB-800 for her
so I guess it makes it OK to post here.

Happy New Year to all the dpReview folks.

Bob

Welcome to the forum! And, thanks for taking time to post to the link. Fun photo. Been to your city, and liked it a lot. Loved our time in Germany.

Thanks for sharing.

Best,
Janice

PS Question: Is January 6th the Three Kings Day holiday? Or is it later in the month? We were just discussing that last evening! Thanks.
As I'm still very new with posting at this forum - not lurking , so
I just take the opportunity...

Did some flash testing with the SB24 I bought at ebay. Works pretty
well with the D70 if you're willing to do a little tweaking. No
iTTL but very good as an intermediate in automatic mode until I go
for the SB600.

My daughter pulled the trigger and I tried to keep up with her.
Usually I'm not that redfaced ;) Enjoy

It's called OmniRemote, you can download it at http://www.pacificneotek.com

The demo version works fine, but you have to re-program one of the TV buttons (the demo version will let you do this only for the TV buttons). Let me know if you have any problems, I can send you the "database" for it with the re-programmed button. Otherwise, you need to already have a device that can trigger the camera; you "train" the button by ponting the device to your Palm. As other people mentioned, a Universal RCA TV remote can do the trick.

It is fun to see who is behind all the postings.
Here'a a self portrait from October. It's hosted on PBase, so you may just see a red x today.

This is an example of a photo taken with bad glass.

In this particular example, the bad glass was on the building I was standing in front of, not on the camera. I have some bad glass for the camera, but I don't use it any more.

I really can focus better than this.

I swear.

Howdy, Beacon. I understand the addiction to cameras! Thanks for adding to the thread.

About the focusing....LOL.
