Morning Mist

OK,,,please tell me why shut off the CAF?
I personally don't like it myself. I would rather not 'hunt around' with the focussing but shoot in single autofocus or pre-focus on a specific area.
I would be in 'shutter priority' or 'manual mode' with
a shutter speed rating somewhere between 80th - 200th sec depending
of angle of movement etc. I would then sharpen in post processing.
Again, I would never use P mode. I would want to control the shutter speed myself. I often like to include some slight blur, to infer movement. Only through a bit of trial and error would I get what I wanted (although with experience I can usually guestimate). Although if it works for you then that's fine, as we all work within our own parameters.
with the Oly P mode was great,,,,not with the Panny tho,,,
You may well be right.
However please feel free to e-mail or post some more sample pics to look at.

All the best
Steve

Well would you believe it.

I have just finished watching a nature programme on the BBC set in Missisippi with some stunning photography I might add! And as a result I thought I would have a little'nibble' on the forum and guess what - up pops Harlan right on cue! Well alright it's not quite Minnesota but....

Thanks for the comment, hows the weather at your end? I think last time we spoke you were baking in 100 degree heat but with the compensation of interesting sunsets?
Regards
Steve
Looks like you have come to a partnership with the weather there.
Lolly.

What, do mean you don't scrutinise anything by me in great detail?
How dare you!
Yes I do. But the forum only shows 420 (?) pixels of it :)
PS I was highly offended by your blue/grey pic gallery.
  • See the colored rectangles in the upper right corner?
  • Perhaps I meant to write "defended". You nefer know wiz uz crazzy Germans :)
Best wishes,

Tels

the last one :)

I like the slightly angled row of trees on the right leading to increasingly mist enshrouded trees in the background. Very nice composition.

My second favorite is the one with the dog in it ... or is that ... a baying wolf perhaps! ;-)

I think you get several cool "variations" from each these pic's. That's what so neat about digital vs film.
Hi everyone,
Here's a few shots I took this morning on my way to work.

Great misty grouping...you know just the addition of the person/dog to those photos really adds drama to the already pretty scenes. I love the misty compositions, but I'm not an early riser, so I miss those great shots when conditions are such...Gerri

Nice pics and brings back lots of fond memories. I lived in England
for 9 years and enjoyed those sunny winter mornings.
I now live in Singapore where it is sunny everyday - or almost.
thks for sharing.

I'm sorry, I had no idea there were more replies to this thread. I thought it had sunk without trace.

For me photography is pretty much location, location, location and quality of light. If you can be lucky to get both - make sure you have your camera ready!

The shots posted represent my daily walk to work and back where 70% of the time it is not particularly photogenic. However that particular morning about 9.00am it was misty, so I thought...... I was lucky enough to be able to get some figures walking by at the right time as well. The barking dog I pass everyday with it's owner who I happened to be talking to when I took the pic of the dog (Ithink he was bored!)
Thanks for the interest

Great Shots. How in the world do you guys FIND these shots.
I drove all over yesterday and didn't find much to shoot at that
wasn't
just standard fare. Is that dog howling?

It's my favourite too. That's why I positioned it last when in fact it was the first of the bunch!

Great to have you back (for now...)!

Thanks for your comments. As I said earlier to Steve Wolf, I am incapable of getting up early unless a holiday is involved. However I only live 15 minutes from where I work so I can get up a bit later than usual and roll into work at around 9.30am! Unfortunately it means I often miss out on foggy weather when it comes early in the morning.
