Canadian 20Ds Thread Part 2

I have a pre-order in Newmarket...

I called the Toronto store, it's more for entertainment at this point. I can't imagine any other industry telling their customers they don't know when the stock is coming in...

But oh well!

Hi
Got the camera two hours ago.
Used it right out of box.
Already had a charged battery.
Seems much lighter than 10D
No real significant change in layout.
The multicontroler is much easier to use for selecting focus points.
Used it with 17-40 and 28-135 Is.
Here are the first pics.

well I called today and still no camera so he called Canon Canada and they are way to buzzy and will be there for Monday.... Bummer

and a second call from my bank about this rather large charge to my card. They only got 8 bodies and 2 17-85 lenses. I was early enough in the queue that I am getting both.

The grip will follow later next week.

I ordered mine from the Henrys website which is apparently a separate entity from the stores. Has anyone received word from them yet? Last I heard, the guy said they should be in sometime this week, and that was on Wednesday.

About 30 minutes after the camera was announced. I think I was actually number one on the list.

Yup. The warranty is 2 years, compared to 1 year for the Canon, so that's pretty good, I think.

Or, at least the one BP-511 replacement I got did. Never did last as long as the original Canon one and then wouldn't take a charge after a year.

Just got a call from Alfred (great guy) and he said my 20D is waiting for me at the downtown location! Unfortunately I'm a couple of hours away, but I can get my friends to pick it up tonight and bring it when they come to visit tomorrow.

I was about 30th on the list and ordered on Aug. 22nd.

I hope everyone else gets theirs soon!

P.S. They still don't know when they're getting the grip, but he's hoping it will be sometime towards the end of next week. I hope so, or else it won't fit on my Custom Bracket!

Yes, I was definetly sold on the camera even before seeing the reviews as AI-servo on the 300D sucks in the sports mode.

Up to now, I am pleased with the first results.

It seems much easier to use than the already easy 10D.

I especially like the PRo raw converter.
