Canadian 20Ds Thread Part 2

Whole pic, but resized (not otherwise altered). Handheld, f/7.1, 1/80, ISO400, 38 mm. The corners are not vignetting. It's because the light was overhead and just didn't extend far enough around the bowl.

100% crop

am thinking to get this lens too, would like to see more shots of
various types. I wouldn't expect it to perform as well as your
70-200, but the focal length range is appealing.
Thanks!

I just called the downtown location of Henry's which is their flagship store. I talked to a guy there in the digital department and they still have no clue. I asked if they could call Canon to get a status update on their order and he said that purchasing department would need to do that and I asked if they could followup with them. He said something like "yes I suppose they could do so." So chances of them following up with Canon is probably pretty remote from the answer I got. Oh well.

Mike
No fair though - I'm still waiting. Hopefully soon though.
Niagara area (St. Catharines) in Ontario.

What a great surprise - my camera store called me and said my 20D
is ready to be picked up - sweet! It was only supposed to arrive
mid-next week :)

Just received an update from Fredericks Photo in St. Catharines. The truck is on it's way, and a 20D with 17-85 with my name on it is on that truck! Hopefully it will arrive today.

Wooo hooo!

Scott
Lets continue the Canadian news about the 20D here. The previous
thread has hit 150 posts. :)
.. (still waiting for mine from McBain... arg) sooo jealous!

Who were you speaking to?

I'm gonna call and I don't want to waste my time speaking to the same person?

This is VERY frustrating.

The cameras are in, and one has my name on it. It's being shipped
today from Montreal, so it'll be in Toronto on Monday. The tax
savings are $160, so I figure I can wait that long.

When did you preorder with them??

Thanks..

Don't know but I was gonna vent my fustration with them but I had to make the call quick and get back to work here and working in the whole client support environment at work, venting customers don't usually help the situation :-)

I called the 416 - 868 - 0872 number which is the downtown location and was forwarded to the digital dept. I believe that they were trying to connect me up to Heather but I ended up speaking to a guy there instead and can't remember his name.

Forgot to mention that I did tell him other stores in Toronto had their initial order of the 20Ds and he told me well if the other guys have it, get your refund back and go buy it there then. What sort of answer is that from somebody who works at a store and wants to maintain their customer base??

Them?? I only ordered one :-)

I first talked to the salesman about three weeks ago, then I actually ordered the camera a week ago. The salesman I dealt with was Kevin. He was very straightforward, professional, and knowledgeable. I bought a couple of lenses from him before, and didn't like one of them (it wasn't defective, just not as sharp as I had hoped), and sent it back for a refund with absolutely no hassle. Their prices on lenses are lower than Henry's. The price on the 20D was the standard $1999, but I got him to throw in an extra battery, and shipping is free. For something this expensive, the tax savings (assuming you don't live in Quebec) are a great incentive.

I thought you had written "When did you order them"

Just excited about getting my 20D :-)

Thanks soo much for the info. I just spoke to Kevin and he has been the most knowledgeable and useful salesman I spoke to at that store. Short version, I got the extra battery thrown in and added the Canon grip package to my existing order. I didn't make the queue for today's orders but should make it for next week's shipment.

Thanks again..

Just got off the phone with Henrys Downtown and they seem to know about as much as my 7 year old.

"Do you have an y 20D's in yet?"

"No, we don't our shipments are a bit slower, we should be getting htem in in the next week to two weeks"

Just called the Scarborough store and they have 11 in stock apparently but all are pre-ordered and don't have a demo.

I ordered from the Newmarket store, called them. Didn't call them first as my calls are bordering on harassment.

They are in, htey have mine, signing off, going to get me a pretty black overpriced camera!!!

Sounds good!

Given Phil has filters where I can't swear and this is a public forum I'll refrain from cursing :-) So DOwntown is clueless. Scarborough has it. Newmarket you're about to get blacklisted, I'll be calling the Thornhill location after I'm done with my conference call here which has been a nightmare.

See, all that time and energy was not required. I waited patiently and Henrys Oakville just called (noon) and told me I can pick up my camera. I didn't have to bug them for answers to questions they can't handle. Don't panic. If you ordered early enough, you'll be fine. I would think that Henrys entire first shipment from Canon will be arriving at their suburban stores today. As far as downtown goes, who knows? Apparently not even Henrys.
