We've done it again, gone over the message quota. Just in case anyone puts some more images in at the last minute, or alters their existing ones, I'm starting this third challneg 4 thread, but please refer to the previous one for details of the competition.

1. If you are working in a non-sRGB color space, you need to convert to sRGB before saving as a JPEG. In Photoshop, this is done via Image> Mode> Convert to Profile.

2. Browsers render images differently than Photoshop. You can open a JPEG file on your own PC with Internet Explorer before you upload it. Presumably other browsers and Macs offer the same ability.

3. I have never been convinced that calibrating monitors is as useful as claimed for web purposes. For an image destined for the web, I like to view it on a variety of uncalibrated monitors to get an idea of what typical people may be seeing.

I agree. Here's a snippet from my reply to Paul before the thread reached its limit (in case you missed it):

"then, of course, you downsize and convert for web and the whole thing goes out the window again..."

One point of interest for Mac users, if you're using Safari with Panther, Safari reads ICC profiles. My images look pretty much the same in Safari as they do in PS, but if I look in Explorer or Camino, the colour is quite a bit different.

Hi Flick

Well, an incapability to get the saturation right on the wheel (either too saturated or boring) has decided me, and seven and seven IS back - in deference to your greater knowledge however the plates stay!

As for the Jeremy Irons and the lizard look - I hate to disappoint you, but I'm even more lizardy (with the mitigating features!). Which, of course, is why I don't want Quentin giving the game away!

Kind Regards
Jono

Seems a good idea to put 7 back if so many people liked it. to be honest, you've submitted such a volume of high quality images that everyone is spoiled for choice.

The plates are gorgeous.

I'm intrigued by what you consider to be your mitigating features ;-) And if you look as terrible as you say, how do you manage to live from day to day, or do you stay incarcerated? If you don't look so terrible, then what's wrong with people on the forum seeing what you look like? Just to give you the courage to take the plunge and let Quentin post his pic of you here's one of me Kate took recently, looking suitably ancient and jaded (you'll have to excuse the quality of the scan as absolutely everything in the house gets impregnated with cat hair):

Silly really - anyway, it's back
The plates are gorgeous.
Thank you - I was dubious, but I'm glad you like it.

Sorry, it was a typo, I meant without, not with! and I'm not sure that there are any!
And if you look as terrible as you say, how do you manage to

No, I keep a bag over my head in most circumstances! Also, we live behind a big hedge, off the beaten track, so there's nobody to see me.

Well, I'd guess that this is not a flattering photo, but I can guarantee that you have
1. less wrinkles
2. more chin
3. less gray hair

but what the hell - Quentin, do your worst (and you're quite safe, I don't have one of you! . . . .not that you'd mind if I did of course, being so handsome and all :-)

Kind Regards

Flick Dear,

Of course you look nothing like "ancient and jaded". Rather, spirited, sensitive, classy, and gorgeous.

I confess to have seen a likeness of Herr Slack, and I will testify that, contrary to his own protestations, he is a rather dapper and distinguished chap.

He's just shy.

Best wishes,

David

ROFL!!!
Well, I'd guess that this is not a flattering photo,
It wasn't too bad as a print from film, but it became very stark when i scanned it. I was very honest and didn't use the healing brush on my lines.
3. less gray hair
i streak lightener into it.

PS thanks to Jono. who is a genuinely nice guy, and (as we all know) a talented photographer.

It's not good saying that NOW - you just don't know how mean I can be when I'm roused!

kind regards

p.s. don't you think a liberal dose of the healing brush would have helped!

Jono, you look so sweet. Plenty of chin there, so i don't know what you're worried about! you shouldn't wear those glasses all the time though, your eyes will get too used to them. I use mine only when i have to, and the last time my eyes were tested, the optician had to check my age as she said the degree of longsightedness should be a great deal more by my age.

You have the same Pan like look as Stephen. Must be a Leo thing.

Much better than the previous ones I've seen of Jono. His puckish character really seems to come through here.

Well done.

Best wishes,

David

P.S. I ain't giving that teddy bear back until you ante up the ransom.

Photo taken early this summer of me when they grabbed my camera away saying "it's your turn now".

thanks, John

ohmigod it's a child
:-)

very nice - at least you could pick your own, rather than being a victim of Quentin's sense of humour!

kind regards
