E10 Day Info.

I've already got a great shot in mind!
Lordy have mercy! 40 photographers and still counting! I never
expected it to be this warmly welcomed, and I thank everyone for
the kind words.

For those that have just jumped in on this fun little ride we're
all going to share here is the breakdown.

April 21st we all go out with our E10's and just shoot the day. It
will be basically " A Day In The Life ".

There are no rules, I hate rules. Shoot what you want, where you
want and how you want. Okay there is one rule, do it on the 21st.
:o) (sorry I lied)

I was going to try to host this, but due to ISP difficulties with
the apparant volume that is going to be produced I won't be able to
after all. Sorry. :(
What you can do however, is load them to where ever you usually
post your pictures from, and then a post will be formed here titled
something like " E10 ... A Day In The Life. " and everyone that is
involved can drop links to their sites. Hence, you can take as many
pic's as you like.

Again, I would like to thank...

So far I think we have half the world covered. As near I can guess,
our line starts in Belguim .. proceeds across the pond to the North
America, then proceeds over the Pacific to Hong Kong and Australia,
with a stop in Hawaii . So the pictures are going to be very wide
spread.

I think when some pro film photographers did this same thing a few
years ago they only had like 15 to do it. We've gone over double
that, and still taking names. :o)

If you see your name listed without a city, please let us know
where you are! * Kinda helps in the fun :o)

I can offer a server running linux. I have a 1.5mb dedicated connection that I use for demo purposes for web developement, so my bandwidth utilization is next to nothing right now. I have already registered e10day.com for the site, so I would just need to build up a box. I do mostly NT developement so my apache skills arent very good, but I am sure I could put something together pretty quickly. I could also load perl on one of my NT servers if that is an option.
I am serious about my offer. If you find some server space contact
me, I will hold my word. What we could do is only store a thumbnail
image (5-10 Kb) and a preview image (30-60 Kb) and tell the
"uploaders" that they can provide a link to the full-size image
themselves. They could type the link in as soon as they upload the
image. This link can be put next to the preview image and say
something like: "Click here for full-size image".

In this way you would need a max of 500 Kb a person (5 images +
thumnails). If you have 100 to 200 uploaders that would add up to
to 40 to 80 Mb.

Dirk
Dirk thanks!!!

I'm not sure what to say. I never expected anything like this. I'm
not sure about my ISP and if they can or will help. Perhaps someone
else out there can? This could save a lot of headaches for everyone
involved.

And welcome aboard. You make the 43rd photog to toss his lens cap
into the ring. :o)

Again, Thanks Dirk!

Vance.
Let me know if you are interested. I will take care of the
installation as long as you can get a server with enough space and
that runs Perl. Anyone out there who can help Vance with that?

Dirk

P.S.1 Currently I am programming a version that will automatically
retrieve the EXIF header info and show that next to the image as
well. This will be ready before E10-day.

P.S.2 Count me in too. I am Dutch but live in Vermont

Is it too late? There's a "slight" chance I might not be able to do this on the 21st but I wanted to try. It sounds like a lot of fun (even though we'll all be doing it alone, we can think about all the others at the same time). I'll know more about the 21st as it gets closer, but for now it sounds good. Oh, I'm in New Jersey....but I'll try to get some decent shots! Maybe there'll at least be some flowers around by then. K.

Hi Vance!

What I'm going to do is have a special album in my photopoint account. I'm calling it "E-10 Day (April 21st)" until another official name is suggested. I am also going to keep that album online, and then next month, I will add another album titled "E-10 Day (May XX)" and so forth. This will be interesting to view each month as people visit, as well as when I visit other people's websites. Just imagine, when Christmas comes around, we can all discuss our favorite shots of the year! Hey, now there's another idea.

I may just get a website of my own and then link to my photopoint albums. This way, I can give a short bio and other little diddies.
