Hi Bobby,

I'm not familiar with Janes Weekly. Sorry for my ignorance, but could you fill me in? Appreciate you stopping by... thanks.

Hi James,

I have seen many images posted on this forum that surpass these... but I do appreciate your kind words.

As far as "eating some humble pie"... don't sweat it. There have been many things I have said, that I wish I had not. Just go out and enjoy your cam!

Hi Gerri,

Thanks...

It's funny that you mention about the more colorful ones. After I had downloaded nine images to Smugmug, I realized all of my images were either gray or olive drab... so I went back and picked out 3 more with color! I'm glad you enjoyed the more colorful images!

Hi Kirwin,

You shouldn't be so humble. These are very nice shots. You could have fooled me that you didn't find a way to sneak into one of those planes and shoot from up in the air! Nice work.

Kirwin:

Awwwsome! What a great collections of aircraft pics! Where was the show...Florida? Were they taken at 12 x ? Beautifully clear and well framed imo!

Hi Lyle,

The show was held in Titusville, Florida. I didn't realize how close I was to Kennedy Space Center... after pulling out onto the main drag we wandered down the road to see the ocean... we stumbled onto one of NASA's museums. A space shuttle was sitting right by the highway and my battery was dead on the camera! Decided to venture across the causeway... we saw some dolphins, sea birds and many other "things" I could not take pictures of because of a dead battery. Moral - Need to carry a spare battery! I'm glad you enjoyed.

Hi Steve,

Thank you. It does make a difference, but some cropping is still necessary. Snapping 351 images at that show helped also. ;) Great shot... thanks for sharing your image.

Hi Harlan,

The camera was set to P mode most of the time. All settings were at standard. White balance was on automatic.

I let the camera do a lot of the work. It was challenging enough adjusting exposure and trying to "keep up" with the planes and jets. I did experiment with the panning mode. I like the result of the panning mode because of the sense of motion in the image. (ref image #12) The only drawback of panning mode is the higher percentage of "junk" shots. I'm sure this will only improve in time with practice. Thanks for stopping by.
