But is very new, or is another reason for them do not sell in North America ? Why they do that ?

Look at the Canon USA site:

http://www.usa.canon.com/html/conCprProductDetail.jsp?modelid=9388&item=9443&section=10214

"The i960 Photo Printer achieves a maximum resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi* , "

Most of the printer manufacturers call their models by different names in Japan, North America, and the rest of the world. The features are usually a little bit different but not always; they're basically the same printer.

Well not really. They are the same and not quite. For example the resolution is different .
i965 has 4800 x 2400 which is quite impressed.
I wish i960 to have the same resolution, too.

The i965 is the European version with a CD printing facility. This is not included on the North American version, the i960. (The i860/i865 have exactly the same relationship.) There may be other minor differences in what is included in the box.

I assume that the 2400 dpi vertical resolution on the the European model is the result of greater creativity by European marketing.

Hey Ian, looks "very" identical, you right. So actually you can buy i965 only from Europe. I still have that "Why" ?

I want to buy one of this, the only thing I'm afraid is about the warranty, and the ink replacement. It will be the same as i960 is ?

Thanks.
what about the cost pe page, will be more expensive than i960 ?

As I said in my previous post, the printers are identical except for the CD printing attachment. See this thread:

You will probably have warranty problems, not to mention very high shipping costs, if you buy one from Europe.

I found a reference a couple of months ago about this somewhere in the Canon documentation. They both print the same resolution; most of the image is at the higher resolution but the last little bit (somewhere around the last 1/2", if I remember correctly) is at the lower resolution. Probably to save themselves from lawsuits, in the US they claim the lower resolution, while the rest of the world claims the higher resolution.

That's my understanding too - on the UK website specs you'll see a footnote saying that for the trailing edge of borderless prints the resolution drops from 2400 to 1200 dpi.
