Photogenetic...I think I got it

Okay, so I just ran across a similar explanation fotogenetic posted in another thread. Now, so when I load the file, what happens? Does it just change the sensitivity of the hue/saturation adjustments, or is it suppose the automatically change the image giving me a new starting point? I'm guessing it just changes the sensitivity because otherwise I'm not seeing any difference. Do you have to reload for every image, or has it change my defaults?

Thanks again,
John
When you take a pic and put it into Photoshop, you select "image"
on the tool bar, select adjustments, then pic Hue/Sat- On the
right side their is a button to LOAD- you then select the
correctionahu. file and load it! That simple...........

Hope that helps!
Keith
Call me slow, but I don't understand the "correction.ahu" file.
Can you explain how to use it?

Thanks,
John
I took your advice and downloaded your custom curve. In addition
to this curve what Focus and Exposure settings do you reccommend
for a D100 Rookie?
Actually, after using these custom tone curves, I haven't had to
worry about my exposures at all. I literally point and shoot now.
I get perfect photos in any metering setting, even using the matrix
meter. The only thing that I would suggest is that if you're using
flash, set the flash compensation to +1.0 at first.
One more question...the custom curve I loaded onto camera will
remain there unless I choose another or choose default
settings...is that correct?

Thanks for all your great info.....have a wonderful New Year !!!

havent been using it that long. LOL so Photo will be able to give you a better idea, but from what I have played with, you have to re-load for every image, you could make an action for this so all you have to do is hit a F key when you batch? I do see a subtle, nicer warm image in my portraits, still havent played with it long enough, but very encouraging!

Okay, I tried a few other photos and can now see the effect of the "correction" file. Thanks. I'll try to load the curve tomorrow, look forward to giving it a try. Thanks fotogenetic for sharing your experience/skills!

John

Could you please tell me how to use the curves. I'm new to this. Do I download them directly onto my camera, if so, how do I do that?
Thanks for all your help
Tonya

The effect is very subtle because the D100 is pretty accurate with color to begin with. The biggest difference is that reds are shifted toward magenta instead of yellow, which gives skin tones a slightly warmer look, cyans are shifted towards blue instead of yellow, making skies look deeper, and greens are shifted towards cyan. Basically, everything is shifted away from yellow. I think there is slightly too much of an emphasis on yellows in the images I get from the D100.

Jim
I'm not fotogenetic but the answer is Yes and No.

Yes you can load the curve BUT you will need to have/download a trial copy of Nikon Capture.

No it will not work through PS.

I downloaded the curve but now I can't find NC 3 on the Nikon Website and NC 4 won't download. It says that my Id is invalid. I guess I'll have to call Nikon or something on Monday. Any ideas?
