JPEG or Raw?

What file of photos would you prefer to take with Fujifilm? Which is more suitable, jpeg or raw?

I always shot raw, and normally spend less than 1 minute to process a picture in Capture One.

Agreed. It rarely takes me more than a few seconds to process and output most images. I do sometimes take longer, but that is by choice, and only when I am being overly critical, or simply want to play with an image. Either way, I always get as good, and usually better images that I can with a jpeg out of the camera. It is especially true when it comes to getting detail from highlight areas, or shadow areas. I use Lightroom, on my Mac, and RAW Therapee on my Linux tablet.

The difficulty and time spent processing RAW images is greatly over exaggerated by many.

Absolutely. I save only raw files as a way to spend less time at the computer processing photos. If you're not going to accept the JPEGs from the camera then you're going to edit them. It takes more time and more skill to try and repair a JPEG than it does to process a raw file from the ground up.

Absolutely and even more so with more recent AI innovations in masking. It saves a huge amount of otherwise monotonous work.

Subject and conditions dependant. In no particular order Reala Ace, Nostalgic Neg, Pro Neg (Hi and Std), Astia, Eterna BB, etc and both monochrome sims, plus Dramatic Monochrome recipe for moody look. Velvia for sunsets, colourful city lights or sometimes U.K. landscapes or woodland under drab daylight.

One. Provia. I adjust the default JPEG settings to my liking on the day I get the camera (decrease NR to minimum, increase sharpness a little, increase contrast in shadows, decrease contrast in highlights, increase colour saturation a little) and leave it.

I shoot RAW + JPEG and use JPEG 90% of the time.

Same here, shooting both in general, but use raw only when "a rescue" is needed or if I wanna be creative and try out different styles in a converter (way more options than film sims) or need to replace a blown sky because i like the rest and wanna keep the shot.

What's new for me and still need to find out. None of cameras had heic so far (just my phone), but gonna get a newer one these days having heic. Can I handle it like a jpeg? Will the simulations be applied as well?

I used to do much more RAW editing than I used to. Back when I used Canon DSLRs I always shot RAW and edited.

But with Fuji that changed. I always have my cameras set to RAW+JPG, but these days what comes out of the camera is what I want. Sometimes I'd edit the RAW files, but less than I used to, and more often just because I want to use a different film sim.

I shot a wedding last week. Over 1000 shots. And in the end the SOOC shots were great, and I just did a few mild edits and crops to those and gave them the couple.
