The Pros & Cons of Using a Holga 60mm Lens on a Canon M6

First test image taken with the Canon M6. tested at a Manual setting then adjusted to Aperture Priority Setting. The aperture setting seems to be clearer than the manual setting and the Holga 60mm lens focal ring doesn't work or I don't see a difference in the settings. However with extreme close up.. I just place the binocular lens in front of the Holga lens.. image turns out very clear. Going to Hold onto this binocular lens for extreme closes.

Glad it works, perhaps try a streetscape with flagged or blockwork footway to see where the focus point is if the focus ring doesn't work, or try focussing through magnified view. Then have lots of fun with it.

I can't see the reason for using the Holga 60mm lens on an APS-C/DX camera. For me, the posted image has no special quality. I think 'misfocusing' a 'normal' lens would give a comparable result.

This morning the adventure and experimenting continues.. I've had my eye on this tree up the street and thought best to attempt a shot. The first one didn't turn out as the shutter speed was too slow and the image was blurry. The second images, I thought best fo brace myself alongside another pole down the street.

The second images was a local church door..

While the third images was of a parking garage lights.

One thing I'll need to start doing is carry the tripod with me during night or dark shots.. otherwise later today I'll attempt some daylight shots.

As for the comment about not seeing the point.. that's the point.. not seeing the point is just want I want to provoke. Photographers today have been trained to capture precise, clear images then post process them or over prescess them to an extreme. My images are pure simple, unedited and not always in focus. Being creative forces me to slow down, calculate the images and exposure setting. Accentually turning my canon M6 into a holga 120n with instant gratification (being able to see the photo right after taking it) and without any editing.

went to a local rink this afternoon and took some more shots. I told the lady there I needed her email to send these images to her once I get back home.. she agreed. May not be what she expected.. and I don't think ice rink photography is my thing.

So a bit tentatively, I'll be ordering another Canon M6 and use it for the Holga lens or the sigma lens just so I have two camera on me at all times. One being more creative while the other being used for shots the wife wants..
