Affinity 2.5 released

Another free update for all the Affinity 2 apps:

You can now do some complicated stuff with variable fonts, and generate QR codes. But nothing major for Photo users, as it's another release that's more focused on Designer.

Be careful. This one has some issues. I did the update to 2.5 (Win desktop) ...it loads the startup screen and then crashes. Tried complete uninstall and resintall and issue persist. Looks like it's already documented on the Serif website.

I rolled back to 2.4.2 and will check back on their site in a few days....

I installed without any problems and ran for a while and at some point during either an open or an export: poof!

TBH, I had the same sort of random drop outs with earlier releases but they are so rare, they don't bother me.

I suspect the "big" thing in this point update is the release of all three apps with native Windows ARM64 support...following hot on the heels of the launch of Windows PCs and tablets powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus ARM64 processors.

There does not appear to be an Affinity Photo 2.5.1 available as of just now, at least for Windows. From within AP 2.4.2 I got this message for 2.5.0:

and likewise at the Serif website (https://store.serif.com/en-us/update/windows/photo/2/) I got (only) 2.5.0:

Any further info on 2.5.1 and when it might appear would be helpful. At the moment I decided to stick with 2.4.2. YMMV.

v2.5.1 seems to be unique to the builds released via the Mac App store and the Windows store...i.e. not the direct downloads page that you show above.

Though I have yet to update, still using 2.3 something I think(?) but if folks are experiencing issues from the direct downloads of v2.5.0 then hopefully they are reporting this Affinity?

It's not offered as an update for my Windows 2.5.0 copy installed via the Windows app store. So maybe 2.5.1 is Mac-only?

This was what the Affinity Info Bot posted on the error thread on their support site:

The issue "2.5 Windows users crashing during 'loading fonts'" (REF: AF-3190) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.5.2.2478".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.

I think I'll just hold off until it shows up as officially available since the new features in 2.5 aren't all that impactful to me.
