All photos taken with a Minolta 7xi + Minolta 35-105mm f3.5-4.5 i.

I met this woman and children in Malawi in 1993.

This little girl wanted to try on my hat so I put it on her head and took a photo. :-)

Outside this Malawi village there was just this one place to get running water from a pipe.

This woman also came to get water at the water pipe outside the village. Maybe if she had been born in a city she would have been a model. She was tall and rather striking.

I absolutely love pictures with little stories attached.

And if pictures are great, makes for a very enjoyable combo. Like here.

Beautiful again. I wonder if your memories would be crushed if you revisited today.
Yes, I suspect you are right. No doubt things have changed a lot in the last 28 years.

Certainly, here in Japan many things have changed a lot over the last 36 years and, of course, in the U.S. also. But, during this pandemic there are no foreign tourists in Japan for the last 21 months or so and that makes Japan seem more like it was in earlier years. Starting in about 2012 foreign tourism to Japan exploded. It is rather nice not having all the tourists, tour buses, etc. here now.
