Hello All,

I see that the new firmware 1.5.0 files for EOS R5/R6 have been removed from most of the Canon web site.
Canon Belgium, Canon France, Canon UK, Canon Canada ...
Still present on Canon USA.
Anybody heard something about that ?

Oliver

Still there for Canon Asia and that is as big as Canon USA. You sure they were pulled? I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't up yet at the other sites. Canon Canada has been late before.

Hi Zeee,

It's not currently on the UK site (it was yesterday). I wonder if they've found a bug or two?

If so, I guess the next iteration will be incoming at some point.

Either that, or they're having a Friday technical snag moment...

Hi Zeee,

It's not currently shown on the UK site (it was there yesterday). I wonder if they've found a bug or two (maybe including the new suppress low frame rate feature for the EVF)?

If so, I guess the next iteration will be incoming at some point.

Could be. We'll see. I'm not aware of the suppress low frame rate. I haven't looked at that menu yet.

Might be wise to wait before you try that one then?

I updated my R6 but only downloaded the R5 update, I think I’ll wait before updating that one then.

I have contacted Canon mentioning them pulling the 1.5 update and if it was safe to use my R6. Reply in 1 - 2 business days it says in the acknowledgment email.

I've found the function, but left it disabled at present.

I believe a few people have reported an AF performance hit in low light when enabled.

Hi,

Wex have a direct Canon support chat. I purchased my R6 from Wex so I just chatted up the support team. This is what they say

I haven't noticed any glitches so far. Even tried Marco Nero's Car autofocus test and it checks out.

HTH

Cheers,

Still there this AM. Clicked in from Canon Rumors site.

Firmware 1.5.0 is currently missing also from canon.de and canon.at as well - it was available yesterday when I downloaded it and updated my R5. I did not notice any problems when doing some shooting afterwards, but I will rather refrain from using the camera until it is known why the firmware file was pulled.

It's only offered to the first 150 people! ;-)

Maybe they realised they forgot to include Zebras for stills (again)!

:-D

Might be wise. My sense is that people AF is not as accurate and is actually hesitant. It does not do what it could quite easily do before. That is not so good at finding eyes on our family pictures on the mantle piece, 5 pictures, with 10 eyes.

People AF could have been better with earlier firmware to in my opinion…

If Canon has pulled it then it would be across the globe!

Suspect it's a server glitch in europe or they suspect its corrupted, somehow!

I downloaded from UK and all is good :)
For what it's worth, the camera will not accept version 1.4 if 1.5 is installed
You can never go back :(
So they say, I found out!
