The ONLY spec that may turn out to be more of a hype or gimmick could be the 4c CCD - we don't know and we won't know until someone is able to do comprehensive tests.
All the other features in the camera are for real ... the 8 megapixel resolution, the RAW+JPEG mode, the dual memory cards, the magnesium alloy body, the T* coated lens, the live histogram, the live white balance, the live preview, the high transfer speed, the high bit rate, the faster start time, the shorter lag time, the IR capability, the movie clip, the swivel back, the higher EVF and LCD resolution, the advanced hot shoe, the spot metering, the manual modes/overrides, etc, etc. None of these features are fake or worthless.
The noise issue has been blown out of proportion. Even the 14-megapixel full-frame-sensor Kodak dSLR is noisy ... but you CAN reduce the noise with Neat Image. If your camera does not have important functions like the spot metering, manual override, a solid/durable body, live histogram/preview, swivelling monitor, etc. you are screwed ... as they don't make softwares for these.
I was out shooting with a friend who used a 10D, and he was constantly frustrated by the fact that he cannot preview the effect of the different white balance settings ... and he ended up shooting blindly and trying every white balance setting that he had on the camera ... hoping for the best.
If you are just looking at the specs and features.
The main problem with 828 is that it wasn’t designed to be a great
camera, it was designed to be a camera with great specs (on paper).
