One lens choice for GFX100S to complete EF lenses?

Hi,

I will be soon part of the Medium Format / GFX users ! I preordered the GFX100S and the Metabones Expender 1.26x.

So glad Same good feeling that when I moved from m4/3 to Sony Alpha 7 years ago..

I have a Canon C200 for my pro video work and, if IQ is good enough, I want to use all my EF lenses with IBIS / AF on the GFX100S. Here's the EF lenses I will use with it :
- Canon 24-70mm II f/2.8
- Canon 70-200mm II IS f/2.8
- Zeiss Makro Plannar EF 50mm f/2
- Sigma Art 24 / 35 / 50 / 85mm f/1.4

Regarding my EF lenses covering I think enough fields, Do you think the new GF 80mm F1.7 R WR would be a good choice for a 1st and unique G-Mount lens for street / portrait / lifestyle photo ? Or do you recommand an other lense to get the best of the GFX ?

It depends on your shooting style, if you use your 50mm quite a lot then little tighter crop maybe good for what you are used to.

Hard to tell how new 80mm will perform from early samples it seems very sharp but with quite a lot CA wide open, it is problematic for some and less for others.

Don't expect continues AF to be on same level as Canon but it should be fine for portraits and not fast movements.

You will enjoy the great dynamic range , resolution and I like Fuji colors very much.

For street / portrait / lifestyle go with the 45mm f/2.8

Your time is limited, so don't waste it arguing about camera features - go out and capture memories - Oh, and size does matter - shoot MF

Completely agree - in my opinion best general purpose lens ever (can't imagine investing into GFX system and not owning this particular lens - if I could only have one this would have to be it).

You are going to love GFX. Adapting your current lens arsenal is cool, but you need to get some great GF glass over time. Why not start with the wonderful GF 45. When you do that and shoot it a while you will start selling your other glass and start down the road of buying Fuji GF lenses.

You will discover this on your own. But I'm telling you now that is what is going to happen - at least to some degree. You will have 3 GF lenses within the next 18 months if not sooner.
