I bought Sony a6300 from Kachashop, that seems to be a similar e-shop. I didn’t like the ergonomics of the camera and I requested to return it. I needed to pay the return costs, but otherwise it was a smooth experience.

I just spotted them on ebay. I live in the Netherlands and saw a Canon 80d for 749 euro from E-infinity and 986 euro here in NL so a no brainer. What I understand is they are a shop in HongKong but the camera will ship from Ireland which is within the EU so should not have to pay tax.

I have bought twice from them recently. My first purchase was an Oly 25 which was decentred. I thought, "Here we go. Should have played safe!"

I need not have worried though. Sent them an email with a couple of shots showing the issue and they refunded it no problem. I did have to pay postage but it was to an Oldham address in the UK so not too bad. Certainly worth the risk for the potential savings.

Also picked up an Oly 17 recently without trauma.

They email you a photo of the actual item being sent, along with tracking.

I would certainly buy again from them as often they are cheaper on new lenses than you can pick up second hand.

They respond to emails pretty quickly. I bought a Panasonic 100-300 II recently and all went well. I would certainly use them again.

I was nervous, as I always am with any new online supplier.

But I needn't have worried. I ordered a Nikon D5500 Body for my business.

It arrived exactly as described and has given hours of faultless service.

It was a relatively easy decision as their price was pretty much the same that some were offering on ebay for second hand "refurbished?" units.

I have bought bought from them many times in the past 12 months. Fantastic!

Items take about 8 days to arrive to me in the U.K. Communications are great. Tracking information is provided via e-mail.

100% recommend.

They have a good reputation and I know some think it's wrong because of taxes and effects on our retailers but at the end of the day cameras and lenses are made and produced in Asia and when as in my case the lens is £420 cheaper then I'm sorry my pocket comes first and would have to be mad to pay the extra, UK warranty or not for exactly the same thing.

Also getting gear privately insured is better than any warranty

I agree, I have saved a packet by buying from these guys. However, I do buy quite a bit of gear from SRS who I find competitive and knowledgeable and also bought my fairly recent Panny 20 and 42.5 from my local camera shop.

Yes, for theft or obvious damage.

But I don't think you would get very far trying to convince an insurance company that a lens was not as sharp as it should be, or maybe decentred.

I take the risk because of the cash saved. I buy used too and no warranty there either.

I also insure my gear mainly against theft or if I, say, dropped my camera.

Well yes where possible I buy from the UK, if the price difference isn't that much, but when it's a big difference like that it's worth what little if any risk there is and you still have time to test it and return it if it's not right, not that I've ever had such a problem so it's not a risk or problem at all.

I've just bought the olympus 40-150 2.8, any UK retailers your looking at £1099 einfinity £659 so even more than £420 difference ,you can't even get a used one at that price which is even more of a risk so its a no brainer, even if I ever resell it I'd get my money back or more. You certainly wouldn't buying new here.

Agree and if there is a problem the return is to a UK address so postage not exorbitant.

Recently bought a Panasonic 35-100 f2.8 ii for £560. You can't buy that used in UK for that price.

I was looking on ebay but they all want quite a bit more used with no warranty, so I'm quite happy with the purchase, it's a bargain really.

I have used Panamoz , not the absolute cheapest grey importer { still much cheaper than UK retail } , but they do offer a genuine 3yr UK based warranty with all issues repairs being carried out by a Glasgow based camera repair firm of long standing

Got an e-mail this morning to say that my Panasonic 35-100 2.8 is arriving today at a price of £569 as opposed to £969 from Wex. With their own guarantee and seemingly perfect track record, what's not to like. This saving plus what I saved n my 12-35 2.8 would go an awful long way to a new body:-)

Just checked their eBay rating and they have had 34 negative feedback in the last 12 months .They are also a HongKong setup so maybe not such a good idea as I first thought!!

Lets be fair to businesses they had 3878 positive feedback. That's not an endorsement but I think facts like that above need to be considered in context

Another part of the picture is this - buyers with a complaint are encouraged to lodge a dispute rather than leave negative feedback.
That's standard practice on Ebay. Most sellers would welcome the opportunity to sort out any problem before negative feedback is left.

In fact, I have, on two occasions, left positive feedback for a seller beause of the way they dealt with issues, once brought to their attention.
If we could get data on the rate of those..

Very true as an ebayer myself it's very annoying when people leave negative (though its only happened twice) when it's an easily resolved problem had they bothered to even make contact, so it's even a bigger problem for sellers with vast amounts of sales, overall they have a very good reputation and excellent prices compared to UK and I suspect U S retailers so if they can't compete, that's the way it is, it's exactly the same as shops closing because the Internet has become an easier way to buy. You can't though like some seem to think put a retailer before your own wallet. At the end of the day why should I pay £440 more to a UK retailer for exactly the same thing

A bargain indeed. You got me curious.

They also have the 12mm f2 at £272 and the 40-150mm f2.8 pro at £560.

When it arrives could you let us know how you get on and which guarantee is supplied with it: U.K. , E.U. etc. and who would honour any warrantee repairs.

Good Luck.

Stephen

They seem to have a lot of gear at dubiously low prices. I've just ordered a GM5 w/12-32 for £240. If there is an issue it shouldl be covered by amazon marketplace guarantee.
