I just thought everyone would be happy (or not so happy) to know that my 6D mark II is working wonderfully, it happens to be exactly what I was looking for.
  • Touchscreen is great
  • Autofocus is fast
  • The single card slot is saving photos properly
  • I took it out in the Houston Flood today and got it all wet and it still works
I'm happy with the purchase of this camera, no complaints so far.

Best,

-Josh

Are you photos better quality with a 6DII ?
The 5D was great... I do like the resolution, although the thing I like the most is the touch screen, even when hand holding, I've used it quite a bit to check exposure before I actually shoot. When I use the touchscreen to shoot the photo, it actually works pretty fast, much more responsive than my SL1, more like the NX500 that I also use. I can also preview the image on the 6d with relative confidence... that 5D LCD is pretty horrendous. I do love the tiny files that that 5d produced, they load into my iPhone with the Lightning to SD adapter so fast!!! lol

...and GPS is another feature didn't have that I have now... that was a big one!

But didn't it stop working when the Nikon 850 was announced? Or maybe it will stop when the Sony A7RIII is announced?

  • Touchscreen is great
I generally switch mine off (on my cameras that have it) as I find it distracting
  • Autofocus is fast
Which autofocus isn't these days...actually it being merely fast is almost not good enough anymore.
  • The single card slot is saving photos properly
Lol, is that supposed to be a feature?

That's lucky!

Good for you, let's see what happens a few years down the road...

:-)

We are loving ours too. As you are interested in Geotagging your photo's, have you seen Geosetter at all? It's free, and we get it to stamp all the actual location information as a batch before we store them.

Glad to hear it, no irony intended. I sympathize, but actually I'm too happy with my lowly 6D mark 1 to develop any GAS... flippy screen, DPAF and touch screen are tempting, but not enough to shell out 2k for. i doubt that i'll become too good a photographer for this camera anytime soon. whether that reflects on me or the camera, who's to say :-)

You must be fun at parties.

Touch screen is a big deal, I use it a lot on my 5D Mark IV. I like to do video with photography so DPAF with the touch screen is amazing.

Try an iPad or something, works great touching it and doing stuff from a distance.

I finally linked it to my iPhone yesterday, works just like my M5, I love that.

So far, it seems like a great camera for me. I upgraded from a 5D, and I didn't want to spend the money on a Mark IV since I'm just an amateur. I use the 40mm f2.8 95% of the time, and it just doesn't have the field of view on my crop sensor that I wanted, but I feel it's perfect for me on the 6D. The resolving power of the lens sensor combo is pretty incredible, colors and DR both seem great, if I wouldn't have read all the negative comments, I'd have thought it was a great camera. lol :P

How on earth did you take that photo without a flippy touch screen? ;)
