Yup. He can expect all day long. It's not flying off the shelves at that price...let me reiterate how niche this crap is now:

Very Very NICHE!

I think the D850 will sell very well even at the higher price. I see people on a number of forums wanting to either pre-order or have it on their Christmas list. I see three groups. Those that currently own the D500+D810 or the D800/e, that held off buying the D810. Current holders of just the D810, not so much. Then there are those Nikon users that have never owned a D8x0 camera but one of the other FX cameras.

I think the camera will do very well if the leaked specs are correct and even at the higher price.
