F828: It is official Yeah!

A. He's passed out from sheer exhaustion and adrenalin letdown.
B. He's foaming at the mouth in the Minolta forum about the F828.
C. He's out chasing some FedEx truck, mistaking them for delivering
him a camera.

Probably it could be all three.

I hope there's no limit to the recording time, other than memory. Throw a big CF in there, and you might have a usable video camera!
30 frames per second is a huge improvement from 15. Does this mean
handicam quality?

Also nice to notice the CZ T* lens finally on a Sony digital still
camera.

The V1 does surprisingly well considering it has a small sensor. Matter of fact, it has virtually the same unit cell size for its photosites. The F828 will do at least as well, perhaps better if the noise reduction has matured.
ISO 800 is maximum expectable for this small chip.
And with 2-2.8 lens it's enough for common situations.

But I feel much worser problem with noise - 8Mpx and small size of
chip ...

I honestly can't believe some of the stuff I'm reading.

When it was MS exclusive, Sony was chided for their exclusivity. Now that CF is included as part of a dual-memory capability, there is the complaint that maybe Sony won't make higher-capacity MS Pro. heheheheh... I mean, doesn't anyone see the irony in this? :-)

Guys, Sony uses the format(s) that are the best at the time. For now, with this camera model, the CF and Microdrive makes a lot of sense, considering the large capacity needed for RAW, for the 8MP files, and for the improved movie mode. Large capacity and FAST. They've given it to us.

Has nothing to do with discontinuing Pro development.

JAL, all I can say is that you couldn't be further from the truth. :-)

At any rate, let's enjoy the fresh news as it rolls out.

Gosh Andreas, you haven't wasted a moment have you.......I will be very interested in seeing some of your shots especially those of the beautiful birds you love to photograph so much when you get your new camera.
Yup this is the camera I will upgrade to for sure :)
Skippy (Australia)
Hi Skippy,

I already have preordered one :) Probably it will be short on
demand at the beginning.

Regards,

Andreas

Looks like maybe they moved the IR emitters up by the sides of the Sony logo above the lens? They don't seem to be in the old location on the lens itself. That would sure make using filters easier, especially for IR photography.
