So far just couple quick snaps — pretty happy with result. This is not a main subject why I got this lens (I want to try some night sky photos), but it's good to know that this lens is very capable for a quick simple photos situation. F/5.6 illuminate need of focusing if subject not to close — probably good street photo lens in good light condition:)

nice n contrasty pics!

I may be joining you soon with this lens, i enjoyed it on my Sony E Mount stuff before coming over to the M system

Awesome! I look forward to your nightscape photos. Let me know if you need any help.

I love this lens! Been using it the whole winter time now for northern lights photographs as well as landscapes. It really is my favourite lens for the M3.

Thank you:)

This lens has also very nice build quality and compact size. Now I need to revaluate if I need to keep 11-22 as well, I never use this lens other than on wide end.

this lens is my "nightscape" lens .. it rarely comes out besides for that.

Cool shot!

Question — why not to use this lens in other scenarios? Because of 11-22?

Thanks Markintosh. I'm spoiled to live here where the Lights show up for half a year. Same goes with snow and cold as well... :)

As for M3 it does handle cold weather surprisingly well. These two pics were taken in -40C. Shutter of my ex. 6D started making funny noise but the M3 had no issues at all. :D

I like this Samyang 12mm a lot. It's compact, well built, feels solid and is very good value for the money. It's a pleasure to use with focus peaking. Can't say a bad word of it.

I'm sure you're going to enjoy Manitoba and the Lights as well. Hope they show up as it's difficult to forecast when they're going to show up and how they're going to be. But that's a beauty of them. They're never the same!

Cheers,

Jarno

Your shots are very sharp. My eyesight isn't what is used to be however. How easy/hard is it to focus manually?

Thank you. I appreciate your reply.

exactly. I find the 11-22 + DLO to be better, greater CA control, etc. also better for IR where the 12mm hotpots.
CA is very easy to fix in post processing, but I agree that in great light condition 11-22 is fantastic. I'd love to minimize number of lens, but I guess it will not be a full substitution for 11-22:)
