Earlier this week I went out to shoot for a couple of hours at Great Meadows in Concord Ma. A quiet day. On my walk I had seen a few dragonflies, a few end of season flowers, and some birds in the distance sitting on the mud. But then there came a butterfly, a lone butterfly, and my day was made. I share five images taken with the K3 and the SFA 150450.

You did have your day, John! Fantastic butterfly shots with the new lens on K-3. I think the lens is a gem for such shots, I happened to shoot the butterflies this morning with this lens on K-5 IIs and was very happy with the rendering.

John,

Beautiful captures. You and your gear had a great day. BTW, I also loved your Gloucester sailing shots. The 150-450 seems to be the perfect lens for that situation.

Hi John

Thanks for sharing. Nice to see you enjoying your lens too.

That's the butterfly effect ;-)

You start playing with it and you can't stop while there is enough light to take some shots.

Have a nice week end!

Regards, Fred

lovely shots with gorgeous bokeh.

cheers,

Rene

That's totally impressive, superbly shot with a level of detail that many macro lenses would struggle to equal.....bravo!

Nice series , my favorite is #1, nice color and background.

Two for two -- I guess there really is hope for this multi-purpose lens.

Thanks on both -- the Sailing shots did not get much of a response so glad to hear that someone else is into big beautiful boats at sea. Very different types of photography -- but both are great fun.

Perfect flower color for that butterfly. Great pictures. Thanks for sharing!

excellent examples. glad you stuck with it

Simply beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
One problem though, now I'm feeling the urge to carry my 150-450 with me on my long walks. So much for having a light weight kit!

Great photography is largely a matter of perspective, both visually and mentally - Daryl Kottwitz (but probably said before :) )

I am off to New Zealand (upper island) in mid-October for two weeks.

The -150-450 will be only lens on this birding trip

John

Happy bird hunting, John. Looking forward to seeing your upcoming NZ photos!
