Let's see whose eyes are sharper than mine ;)

Shot as RAW, minor modifications in LR. Same body, same aperture (f/7.1), same ISO (200), same WB, same sharpening, exported to near-full size JPEG with the same settings.

Anyone see much of a difference?

Curious to know what lenses were used.

/nt

Two more. This time, using a small flash, both at f/7.1. One image has a small correction for exposure, otherwise same sharpening etc as the other two.

Candidates #2 and #4. It must be an even day.

1 and 4 for me.

In the first set, they seem similar in the middle of the frame, but 1 seems sharper at the edge, at least when I'm looking at Plato.

In the second set, picture 3 almost looks like it missed focus to me.

I hate to beat a dead horse, but before I reveal the identity of the lenses... What am I missing? Which details are different between #3 and #4? (This is a crop from the lower left corner.)

Candidate 3 has slightly better sharpness and contrast. But that's really a insignificant difference and won't be visible in a print, any size. Curious to hear about the lenses :D

So what's behind door number 1-4?

In this sample from the corner, I like the contrast better on 4, and that might be swaying my perception of sharpness. The cover around the words 'Anchor Books' just looks a smidge brighter on image 4 than it does on 3. The differences are minor though, and I bet a couple tics on a contrast or sharpness slider could make one image look like the other.

To me, this test is so close that it's like comparing two identical pairs of speakers with identical music and electronics - if one is turned up imperceptibly louder, it will likely win.

So yes, I stand by my picks of 1 and 4, but it's more opinion than anything

Lens #1 and 3 seem sharper to me in the corners, and candidate pic #1 has less CA than #2.

So I'd go with #1 and #3.

(Preparing to be proved wrong :p).

Even at this magnification on my Retina screen , the difference if any is too small to even discuss about

Unless one's a pixel peeper

Cheers,

The horse is dead. Stop beating...

Poor horse :(

even at small size the top image looks noticeably better and my eyes are not as good as they used to be..

that dosnt mean the other image is bad.. just to me the top one looks better..
