The D750 is a pathetic successor to the D700 and it's barely a better "action camera" than the D610. So no, it does not appear that the D750 is any indication of a D350, in fact it's pretty much the nail in the coffin for any hopes of a pro/prosumer DX camera. I guess the profit margins on those D5x000/D7x00/D6x0 style bodies are too good for Nikon to stop basing product after product on them.

Disgusted. I can only see my Nikon use waning going forward. I've got SO much invested in a company who obviously sees SLRs increasingly different than I do.

That 20mm looks sweet :)

I feel for you. And Canon seems to be doing exactly the right thing with the 7DII. The specs are good and the body quality looks very nice (kind of like Nikon circa 2007-2009). This time the grass is really a lot greener on the other side. Calling this body a D750 is truly pathetic. My only hope is that the abysmal sales figures will send Nikon a signal how lost they are.

The grass is not yet greener on the other side . The 7D II hasnt been announced and TBH the rumoured specs are a bit OTT , I have my doubts. If they add all those rumoured specs that camera will a Pro price tag which would probably kill off a lot of peoples hopes ....

Dont fret , its not the end of the world . Now is a great time to be in photography ! There are other cameras out there like the Pentax K3 & Sony A77 II which come close to a lot of peoples wishes ....there are options out there ...

Frankly, if 7DII comes out the way it is rumored, it will feel a lot less overpriced to me than this D750. A full frame sensor alone doesn't make a camera. Nikon doesn't seem to get that at the $2000+ price level they are marketing either to professionals or to very serious enthusiasts, and they can't get away with half-baked products manufactured on the cheap. The sad thing is that 5-10 years ago Nikon had a much better idea of what quality means and a much greater commitment to delivering it. Now it is all about cranking out new models as fast as they can and trying to increase margins by rearranging parts from the bin. This D750 looks like just a glorified D600 with an improved AF. Anyway, I probably fit the profile of a typical user who would eventually buy a D750 if it inherited the D700 DNA. Unfortunately, it is an impostor, and I'll keep my money, or maybe give it to Canon one day.

Precisely Yray! Nikon says they need to gain the high end, but release low end to medium end bodies faster than I can keep track.

I don't want a D400 because it's cheaper than FX options, I want it because it'd be the ideal wildlife/auto racing camera to pair with my D800 I use for landscape/environments.

I'd be happy to pay $2500 or even $3000 for a truly innovative, truly pro quality, medium sized (D700/D300) DX pro/prosumer body.

Absolutely. And I'll likely end up with one. I >might< even consider the 7D mk2, even as much as I can't stand Canon ergonomics. I'm very curious how the new Olympus pro tele lenses will work on the E-M1 with the new upcoming firmware. Continuous tracking is not good on that camera with existing firmware and lenses, but we'll see. Perhaps the next generation of OM-D will do it. May trade my E-M5 for an E-M1 and pick up the 40-150 2.8. It may be a bit of a wait until the right Olympus body comes out for tele wildlife, but at least I know it's coming someday. With Nikon I know it's not.

Did you check the threads in Canon forum? Their complaint is that Canon didn't do anything about the sensor tech for last 7 years!. I agree. The body spec looks great if true. If the sensor is improved too (should be above D7100 sensor), it will be a killer action camera..

Yes its clear now that DX is the consumer range and FX the pro range (D4S/D810 for professionals and D610/750 for prosumers and serious hobbyists). I guess if folk occasionally want DX features they can switch DX mode on in a D810 or D750 and use their DX lenses. One pro body in the bag for FX and occasional DX use. It's only a camera, not the end of the world. Otherwise use what I regard as Nikons best value for money camera the D7100.

I don't want to be a two system camera user. Pentax doesn't have the focus system or the telephoto lenses. Great cameras and lenses but not a D300s and 80-400mm G. The only Sony product I've ever used was the DSC R1 so can't comment on them for use. It seems Canon is taking care of the DX crowd but don't want two systems with radically different access/ergonomic operations and lenses. I'll just keep using my D300s; no upgrade for me Mr. Nikon.

Wow, I'm speechless. I know how much you guys have been waiting and waiting and waiting and "imagining" a D300 replacement would come out, specially this month. Specially after seeing Pentax coming out with their K3. Again, i'm speechless.

The D750 looks like a very odd camera. It even has the AA filter on it. Did nikon "forgot" to remove it?

The FPS are very low and the only difference i see if the extra AF points and the articulating screen. Is kind of being what the D600 should have been in the first place. To me this is totally NOT exciting at all at this point in time, at the end of the year 2014. Pretty lame.

This only means one thing: A super opportunity for other manufacturers. I have always said this, i think Pentax and Sony will rule the future of Pro DX features, and Pentax will only continue to get better and better with the K3 replacement. I have nothing else to say about that.

Even if canon does not come out with with a Pro DX replacement either, "if" i did decide to buy a FF, which i have been wanting for a while now, i would DEFINITELY buy the canon. What i can say is that if canon also only comes out with another 6D replacement, it will KILL this nikon 750, specially in the video department. Canon tends to provide better prices as well.

Like someone else already said here, there are LOTS of great choices out there, and will continue to be. You guys need to wake up and smell the coffee by now.

One thing i have personally learned, is that life is about changes and learning new things. That's what makes life exciting.

All this is only my opinion :-)

It *IS* the end of the world :-)

The good thing is that since no Nikon camera tickles my fancy, I started looking at other manufacturers. And for now Pentax looks real good.
