F505 Landscape and Panfocus modes

Since sony did not include an English manual with my camera, I have some questions. What is "landscape" and "panfocus" modes? Under what conditions should I use them? Thanks.

As far as I can tell, Landscape mode would lock the focus at infinity... So you don't have to wait for auto-focus.. Use when shooting mountain ranges and stuff. Panfocus (so the manual says), is used when switching quickly from close objects (people) to far object (aforementioned mountains). God knows when you would be doing this. But from this description I assume it is locking focus at infinty or very close...No in-between.. But don't quote me on that...

I believe Panfocus is merely a distance setting that covers a depth of field from about 10 feet to infinity. It may include stopping down the aperture a bit to encompass a near range even closer than 10 feet.

Yes. Panfocus will lock the lens at the hyperfocal distance & disable the zoom for use as a quick point-and-shoot fixed-focus camera. Very useful when you don't want to wait a second or two for the autofocus to lock on e.g. spontaneous 'people' shots?
