Refilling Canon is OK, but are any eBay inks ok?

When I print on-location at events, it would be handy to have 20-30 carts of every color available.

I see all 6 carts on eBay from several sources at $12 to $20.

Wheen I am shooting and just hire someone to help print, I need to keep it simple as possible... that doesn't include refilling and time involved.

Just wondering if anyone has had success with any eBay vendor.

I would keep away from anyone that is just selling 'ink' that may harm your printhead. Stick to known dealers like Inkjetgoodies.

Why not get multiple empty refill cartriges from inkjet goodies and prefill them. All the person will have to do is pop out the old one, pop a cap on it, grab a new one pop the cap off, and stick it in the printer. It sounds like you do enough printing this would be a lot cheaper in the long run and you can use an established ink company that many have used with great results. Then just refill the used emptys yourself later.

The two companies I've seen on here mentioned numerous times, good review's for both, are inkjetgoodies.com and weink.com. Supposedly, weink.com uses the same formula as inkjetgoodies.com, but with a small formula change so that the ink flows better in the i950. I remember reading that from a worker there (possibly the owner) who posted here previously. But I also don't recall seeing any bad reviews for inkjetgoodies ink for the i950. And Weink is a little more expensive. They've done some paper/ink longetivity tests, and probabily have other research also posted there.

Currently, weink has 2-packs of filled cartridges of ink for $5.99 (3.00 per ink cartridge color) which is cheap enough for me, although refilling is much cheaper than this. I'm still doing checking to see if the formula change caused any problems, so far I haven't seen any.

They are $5.99/cart. + $11.98 for two.
not $5.99/pair

The cartridges are sold in 2-packs, but the price is $5.99 per cartridge . If you add it to your basket and go to the checkout page, you'll see that the price for the 2-pack is $11.98. $3.00 per cartridge would be a little too good to be true considering they charge $44.99 for a 12-pack of empty cartridges.

OH! Sorry about that, I was mistaken. Yeah, I do see that it is "per cartridge" on there. It threw me off that the cartridges right above are $4.29, so I thought that the discount off of two cartridges would be less. But now I see that the $4.29 per cartridge is ONLY if you get a pack of 60 cartridges.

So yeah, I see now that it's $5.99 PER CARTRIDGE. I should have read this better. I guess my prices would have been a little too good to be true.

Tyler-Martin is supposed to be good. I bought some off of EBAY, but I've never tried them in the i850. I purchased InkjetGoodies to try first. A number of people have posted about how good Tyler-Martin inks are. My reason for chickening out on them was because of the small ink nozzle size on the i850 printer and the fact that Tyler-Martin had mostly just been used by people with the "s" series printers. I think the user name is tylermartin 1, or something like that. They were really cheap.

I just looked on EBAY and here is a link you might be interested in. You can search this forum for messages about Tyler-Martin ink.

I've been buying from inksite.com for several years. I have a Canon S630 and I buy my ink in pint bottles from them. Very fast service. I'd do as someone else had suggested, refill cartridges ahead of time so all the helper has to do is pop the used one out and pop a loaded one in.

Their feedback is over 12,000 but probably closer to 20,000 because of repeat customers, they seeem to be OK.

Check out: weink.com. They have Continuous Re-inking System that may
be what you are looking for.

Using a CIS on location could be a big PITA

Yep, that would be nice in the studio, but for those of you who have not shot 4000-5000 pics a day and displayed them for immediate print/sale... whew... It's not a time you want something to go down or stop to refill a set of carts!

The people I know doing it only use Canon ink and by it in bulk, but I will try Tyler-Martin as well. I have enough refill carts from IJG for 7 of each color, but there is NO time to refill on location.

Also, There is the issue of leaking w/refill carts. My first set of IJG had a leaker... they replaced it and the other two it contaminated without ANY fuss. They are first class!

But it is a MAJOR CONVENIENCE to have sealed up ink carts tossed into a cardboard box in every manner known to man with all else I need :-) They don't start like that, but two 12 hour days later and... :-)
