Any Comments of New Layout and Name of the Forum?

I wonder if people who change things stop and think why they change things or do they just do it for the sake of getting something new. There is absolutely no improvement in the new layout, at the contrary.

Its just a forum, you have the ability to read and comment.. The funny thing is; give some people the opportunity and they will ***** and moan, because that's what they do best..

that I'm shown as a 'Veteran Member' of this forum. I don't know if it's due to the amount of time I've spent here, or the number of battles I've been through fighting the good fight.

  • I like the WISIWG, but it needs color options and emoteicons
  • I like the breadcrumbs
  • I like the new flat view (now you can see what the poster is replying to)

  • I did not think I would like the dislike but with that you can voice disagreement quicker without having to enter into the discussion
  • I don't think we should be able to vote (like/dislike) more than once or on our own posts

Anyone found an answer to this? (The sheer volume of comments makes it hard to see if someone has already raised the issue - it would help if the points were identified in the subject line) Previously when replying/quoting a long post it was possible to reply to specific parts whilst leaving those parts in the colour of the previous poster (ie by making sure one used > correctly). Now I can't find a way of inserting a comment part way through a quote

I love it except for the votes!
It would be better to have only "+" gradation because:
- if no "+" no need to say more ;)
- if no "-" no personal bashing is possible (if vote would concern only positive things...)

Kind regards,

(btw: it's me or I really don't see a "Preview" anymore for the messages, why it disappeared?)

Don't see anything like you suggest is there, but I was able to go back to the yellow color (instead of blue) and it gave me the shading for items I had already viewed. Guess my version of windows is just too old to support the new system.

I had figured out what you say about the reply system.

You can still write between the paragraphs of the previous poster. As I do here.

i know what i know,
But I don't know if you can break a paragraph in two and keep both halves as quote by inserting a > in front of the second part. But if the line below appears as quote, it works:

No. Didn't work.

Easy to read with the white background. Like the edit bar above my message. Will probably not subscribe to email notifications when someone replies. I waste enough time online and get enough emails as it is - not that I post much any more.

It's much harder to navigate, at least for me. It's less clear who posts what in response to whom, and you can't see your own posts highlighted anymore. You can't see a preview of what you're posting like before. I get why, but I liked the BB code options before.

You also can't check your own 'my threads' link at the top of the forum, can't see the forum title when you're replying and the Ignore function is just as useless as ever.

So I don't really see much upside, thus far. The two 'themes' are rather silly in that it's the exact same look only yellow or blue on black. Just as bad on the eyes.

I'm voting you down. :p

Oh, and yes, the lack of preview - thanks for reminding me, I need to put that in my 'nay' vote for the redesign.

there are still buds....

1) need the preview view retained or reactivated

2) need to be able to click on the last post ( in one click.)

While the last poster in a threadi s hot linked... when you click on the last poster, it still takes you to the first post in the thread. It should take you to their post....

Just noticed that dpreview RESTORED "top posters IN THIS FORUM" and "most bookmarked IN THIS FORUM" .....Now I am really happy with the new layout!!!
