At first I shot JPEG because I was naive and wanted quantity over quality.
Then I shot RAW, because I was still naive but wanted quality over
quantity. Now I've gone back to JPEG because I'm no longer naive, and I
want both quantity and quality.

Hi Mahesh,

Nice shot, great colors. I second Stan, water color is very nice and you did a very well job with exposure, keeping shadow and highight details very well balanced.

I am just seeing you picking a new house - "this one doesn´t have enough walls ... do you have them with 4 side walls - ah ... just to hangs pics, you know ..." :-)

Hi Mahesh,

Neat color. I associate that color green in tropical waters. It's unusual to see it associated with fall colors.

Nice shot.

Mark

Very nice, love the photo. Did you use your layer technique to get

the latitude? I am working very hard by reading your posts and others posts along with some digital photo books to understand and be able to use layers like you do. I think it is going to take a while. Did you use a filter on the water? If so which one?

Thanks for posting love your pictures and help to everyone. Yes I finally learned how to click on the photo's to expand them so sky lines are not in the middle of the picture (duh).

Interesting Colors. Nice shot. I really like the look of the water.

Stan
Thanks, Stan. The greenish water color are the result of the surround green forest. Glad you found the colors interesting.

Thanks, Faye! I was so luck to get a sunny morning that day. It was suppose to be cloudy but once again the weatherpeople were dead wrong!

Thanks, bud! Exactly!!! That's what really caught my eye about this scene...the greenish water...reflecting the green forest around it. Bit unusual for the fall :-)

Now that's purdy! Where might this be?

Robert
Thanks, Rob! This was taken on the way to Olympic National Park, in Washington. The body of water is a part of Crescent lake.

Thanks, wgc! No layer technique or filters here, bud. Just natural colors and lighting. I expossed for the highlights in the water and was willing to sacrafice a bit of shadow detail.

I'm happy you've found some of my posts helpful, wgc...I appreciate your feedback.

P.S. No worries about the photo expand thing :-)

I really like how part of the water is lighted. It reminds me of a shot I tried to paint (I said tried :-)) while I was in a water color painting class.

And yeah, when the winter comes around again you'll longing for summer

Thanks, Tony! I went back to JPEG because I've become very comfortable with white balancing and properly exposing with my S2 now. I used the RAW mainly for that purpose. So now that I've become more savy, RAW no longer has the advantages I seek. Plus, as you mentined, JPEG is easier to deal with and I can store a lot more of it on my MD. :-) Occasionally I do shoot in RAW if the lighting conditions are really tough.

Don't even talk to me about painting...tried it once...once...failed miserably...took up photography...jury still out on that one :-)

Nice composition and exposure throughout the shot bud! I love the different shades of green on the water. Was the heavy rain making you miss the decent weather?

Man, I've been so rediculuosly busy at work that I haven't any time, at least until today. After a long day, I just wanna go home and play w/ my son. Haven't even shot, but a few shots, in the past 2 weeks or so. I missed chattin in this forum but I've only got so much time in day :-((

Hopefully, things will even out a bit. At same time, busy is good, especially in this economy :-))
