new dSLR from Canon

Would you care to explain how they came up with the "rumor" of the
D30 replacement that exactly matched my "wish list", within a day
after I posted it here on DPR?
They got the info the same place you did ;)

Just kidding. I guess your lens collection qualifies you as a credible source for rumors ;)

Ok, I don't know about the reputability of their predictions, but they are VERY respected by people who can actually understand french and it's subtleties. They are not your average american magazine who's staff is paid a commission by the advertisers.

They may lag one day in rumors, but who cares where rumors come from? Rumors will be rumors, right?

Enjoy the wait to PMA!

What do you mean I should take pictures instead of lurking in the forums? Isn't that thing FULLY auto?

Nice, Maurice, that you yourself add to the list, "victims". And I
hardly think the French history of human rights is one to be proud
of. Don't you think it is funny?
I am sorry you did not understand what I mean (english is not my native language)

This is a forum dedicated to digital photography.

There are plenty of forum where you can dump your hatred and prejudices against french people.

That's the reason why I think your contribution is quite irrelevant and demonstates only your ignorance and rudeness

Who cares...it's in french...that makes it second rate.
You don't have to feel this way about understanding only english. Many people are similarly limited in their ability to grasp what is going on outside of their backyard. Your not the only one who have to rely on CNN and other mind shapers to make up your mindset. The good thing is: if you put yourself at it, you too can learn a foreign language. I suggest Barron's educational series: Mastering French. Hehehe

On the other hand, you could write the lyrics for Eminem.

ALL they do is REPEAT rumors. They don't have any inside info.
Does anybody?
I'd like to meet their "researchers". All they do is scour the
forums for rumors, and repeat them.
They must scour the forums! Not doing it would be plain stupid for an information magazine. But they make a clear difference between rumors and facts they believe are true. See for yourself:

CI says:
It means:

" Rumors are circulated on possible D40, D4, D80, D300 bodies. Rumors have it that there MIGHT be ans EOS-3 based DSLR with a large imager and a rebel based body. Rumors are wrong.

WE THINK that Canon will introduce only one DSLR and it will rock! The price will rock and the features too."

I don't think they fetched that on this forum. Do you?

On this land, people are allow to have "extreme" views because of democracy and because the Bill of Rights guarantee us personal liberty.
I think the 8mm fish-eye has an extreme view: you think you see everything but the mushroom in front of your lens is bigger than the forest 10 feet away.

Enjoy your rights buddy

I speak and read Chinese (since I'm chinese american), thank you very much. And I took 3 years of French in high school, what a waste of time. Like I said, France is a 2nd rate power, speaking a 2nd rate language.

They are, to put it mildly, idiots. They will repeat ANY rumor
they THINK they hear.
Obviously , you've never ever read Chasseur d' Images.
So, please stop commenting about something you don't know.

What's your point? What does my dislike for the french have to do with my earlier post about liberty? I'm exercising my liberty by revealing my feeling for them, am I not? It's not like they didn't have to coming. They've been shoving cr*p up our ass for 50 years.

It may very well have been the former.
ifrance.com are the guys that first relayed the D40 & 8D rumours someone made up here, so I suspect they are the ones you're thinking of.

That said, by now that same rumour has been repeated and misconstrued so much that 8D could've very well evolved into the new D80 rumour that no-one seem to know where stems from.

It'd be simpler on everybody involved if they'd simply state the source of their rumour (or atleast hint that they cannot reveal it if that's the case).

There's nothing wrong with rumours, but unfortunately this board is inhabited by pranksters who seem to enjoy dropping the old flare every now and then get their five minutes of fame in easily fooled publications like ifrance.com. (who in turn are read by other web-zines and thus the rumour mill gains speed real fast) Not really amusing when you stop and think about it. Naturally it was ifrance.com's fault for not revealing their source. Everybody would've been able to tell it was a joke (or wish list) early on.

I can understand that "power" (in terms of nuisance e.g.) can be rated, I wonder how you can "rate" language ?

After reading my first post in this thread again, it seems like it wasn't very clear :

Everything that's in Chasseur d'Image's articles about a successor to the D60 are rumours, and is presented as such in the articles.

They aren't trying to trick you into believing they've got some hard information, but instead made it clear that all this was only a lot of educated guesses !!

That's not unreliable in my book. It's honest. Worthless, certainly, but there's not trickery there.

BTW, I didn't need to babelfish the article or whatever to understand, being french helps !

At least, starting to post here was an interesting experience, gave me a taste of my kind of behaviour I can expect ... (funny, I didn't notice that while reading the other threads. Maybe I wasn't paying attention. )

The problem with Chasseur is that they publish both facts and
rumors, and they do not label the rumors as such.
I am and old reader of CI, and do not agree allways with their points of view.

But, when they report rumours (who does not ?) they do label them as such.

Just read the article (a translation iis available in this thread), they just make suppositions, and do not pretend to do anything else.

I understood you well enough. I seconded a remark about "The French" and you took offense.

FYI... "Plenty of" in English requires a plural. So you can use "fora" if you want to seem continental and sophiaticated, or "forums" if you feel like slumming.

PS No one cares enough about the French to hate them.

AS you continue to keep this thread alive by responding to people who know little about geopolitics and less about world history, what is it you think i am ignorant of exactly--relevance?

Well, I assume the US is 1st rate

The US wouldn't even exist today had it not been for the French.

Did you ever learn about the American Revolution at school?

In 1775–83, the Thirteen Colonies on the Atlantic seaboard of North America won independence from Great Britain and became the United States. It is also called the American War of Independence.

In fact, just follow this link:
http://www.bartleby.com/65/am/AmerRev.html

As for a second rate power, if you look at how badly the US is doing at the moment economically, it's hard to say that any country is 2nd rate in comparison. Except maybe some countries in Africa where there's a civil war going on.

As for myself, I am Thai and I speak/read/write Thai and English. Is it a big deal? NO.

I spent 11 years studying in the UK and by the time I got my degree at Cambridge, I studied French for 5 years and German for 3. It wasn't a waste of time studying those languages IMO. I have travelled to France on a number of occasions and it's a very nice place and the people there are very friendly and agreeable. Had I been able to speak the language, I would have enjoyed myself a great deal more, let alone do mroe business there.

I have no idea why you decided to lash out at French/France just because you studied it at high school and thought you'd rather do something else. It's just sad, really sad.

Maybe it's just too many big ideas trying to get in to a small mind.

Just like psychics. Throw out enough "predictions", and some of
them will come to pass.

Then talk about ONLY those predictions.
It is strange when someone does not read French, does not read the article, accuses someone of stealing their rumors when it was someone else that did it (if they did it) then continues to denigrate the French site instead of saying, "I made a mistake---sorry!"

Oh well, that is what these internet sites are for---to give opinions when not fully informed---sort of like what DavidP accused the French publication of doing.
