5Dii used pricing after 5diii

I shot for a while with the 5Dc and really loved it (I'm just an amateur/hobbyist). I sold it for a number of reasons, but am thinking FF again.

With the 5Diii coming, I would think the used prices of the 5dii will drop. Do you think it would fall to around the $1200 level (ala 5Dc) and maybe even send the 5Dc to $500-700 levels? Not that I would want a 5Dc -- I'm angling more for the 5Dii.

Assuming the 5DIII will be $3,000 or more, I'd expect the 5DII to stay at around $2K in the short to medium term. Eventually, prices will of course drop more significantly. Just my 2 cents!

I agree I dont think you will see as big a drop as the 5D saw, I think 5D stays around $800 used and 5D2 around $1500 used, $2000 new.

With the Canon Loyalty program you can get a refurb for $1600 ($2000 refurb less 20%), so I would hope used ones would drop farther than that, but you never know.

I watched the prices of 5D's and they were never low enough for me to purchase a 4+ year old camera of dubious origin. Although I'm sure the sellers where honest about their "well looked after" status it was never worth the risk for me.

I just bought a 5D2 a couple weeks ago. The second hand maket will be competitive as the 5D3 will take a few months to be readily available and even when it is will be 50% (+-$1000) more expensive so demand will still be high for 5D2's.

As I said earlier, if I buy second hand I expect a significant discount on the new price, to account for the unknowns and lack of warranty, this never happened so I bought new.

I have two 5D2 bodies, and wondering about selling one of them. I hope they don't go down below $1500. I find myself using one body all the time. Backup body may only have 2000 cliks on it.

If 5D3 is going to be as awesome as we all are hoping, I think I will only get one body this time, and use 5D2 as backup.
