Has anyone found a US source for the new XZ-1's auto lens cap that was released by Olympus this month. The part number is LC-63A. I found several UK online dealers but I was hoping to save on the shipping.
Thanks for the help.

Are you sure this is a genuine Olympus LC-63A? When I have searched for that I have gotten lots of knockoffs such as the JJC self-retaining auto lens caps. Given that the original Oly one costs about $40, I can't imagine that you're getting one for $14.95!
i just ordered one from china for $14.95 & free shipping from ebay.

If you find one willing to ship to the U.S would you please post the information?

Thanks.

i don't even have my camera yet and i'm fairly new to oly & this forum. so i took a $15 chance on ebay - i think i'll do ok. what is YOUR problem?

Jack--

No problem, and if I sounded otherwise I didn't mean to! It's just that I've been very eager to get my hands on an Olympus LC-63A and have seen those JJC versions on eBay as well. I actually have one of them for a different camera and they work well, so I sure it will be fine. I just like the more streamlined look of the LC-63A, and I was saying that I think for $15 you got the JJC version, not the Olympus one.

Again, I did not mean to sound snippy or aggressive.

US is a huge market. All I can say is you have to be patient. In a month or so you will find much better price.

I so hope you're right! Did you hear this from a reliable source? I ask because another member here got a message from Olympus saying something like "We have no idea if or when the LC63A will be available in the USA." I am about ready to get a JJC version, because I find the lens cap so annoying...

I tried asking Olympus when it would be made available in the US. I got this response.

"At this time there are no plans to make this accessory available in the US; This is due to the marketing data available in regards to demand plus cost indicate a low demand for this accessory in this market."

If anyone knows how to order it from another country for a reasonable price I would like to get one. If not I will try a third party provider. Please tell me how the $15 Chinese one works out.

I broke down and ordered a JJC knock-off--the new, slim version (apparently there was an older, "thicker" version), but it hasn't arrived yet.

Actually I have a JJC on my Panasonic LX-3, and it works perfectly well. For the XZ-1, though, the LC-63A is aesthetically so much more pleasing--it looks like it's an inherent part of the camera, rather than being an aftermarket add-on.

I have some friends in Europe, but it seems like too much of an imposition to ask them to order one for me and then ship it to the US. And I wrote to one of the UK dealers, but they said they do not ship out of the UK.

Can you please provide a fuller name or the weblink for this. A friend and I both have LX-3 and I am considering getting a ZX. Such an auto lensecap wouls be a great aid.

When in this situation I do the actual ordering and payment and get it delivered to a friend in the UK. All she then needs to do is re-post it to me. For larger items she bills me the postage via her PayPal account. Simple :)

I just had a friend in England order the lens cap for me online. He said it was 30 pounds!!! Ouch. He will get it on Friday and send it on to me.

I went to eBay and searched for "JJC for LX3" (minus the quotation marks), and got 17 hits right away. I see there's even a newer version than the one I got.

I will try to post the link, but it might not work:

Disappointing Olympus won't service their US customers with this accessory, the original lens cap sucks canal water. Mine falls off at the drop of a hat. Really looking forward to the Canon G1X!

@Zabatman....Which vendor did you use in the UK? When I tried to order through Olympus, they said their site would not accept a credit card from US only if from UK, even though I would be sending to UK address.
Thanks for the information.

I haven't ordered direct from Olympus in the UK, normally from camera shops and eBay. And I haven't specifically ordered the new lens cap as I tend to keep the lens adapter attached for my polarizig filter. I use the pinch cap from Lensmate.
