My D520 has a DC 3v in on it and I want to buy an adapter for it. Where can I find just what I need?

Olympus makes an adapter, but it's kind of expensive. Why do you want an adapter? Unless you have a special reason, most people end up never using their adapters.

Also, RadioShack sells a digital camera adapter with multiple voltage settings, but I don't know if 3.v is one of the settings.

I want an adapter because if I'm using the camera at home or anywhere with electricity I can save the batteries of course!!! I also heard that uploading the pics to the PC kills the batteries, and it would be silly not to plug in to save the batteries. Either way I went through three pairs of batteries in a few days. Isn't it obvious why I need an adapter or am I missing something?

Hi Muze,

Are you not using rechargeable NiMH batteries? This is the only way to run a digital camera. If you have 3 or more sets of these, I don't see that you ever need an AC adapter. I would save my money for more battery sets instead.

Thanks for the info, I guess that's the nudge I needed in the right direction. So are there different brands/qualities of rechargable NiMH batteries? Where can I get the best deal for the charger and the batteries online?

Check out this report on NiMH batteries and chargers.

I use Energizer and GP although I have no brand preference. I heard that you can get a set of 4 Energizer for under $10 in department stores.

So which type of charger is better, slow or fast? I know the website mentions that you should use the batteries in your cam right after they have been charged, but if I happen to charge my batteries in a 2 hour or 5 hour charger overnight, will the extra hours after that be bad for the batteries or the charger?

I don't know whether a fast or a slow charger is better for the life of a set of batteries, but the slow charger I have always under-charges no matter how long I leave a set of batteries in it; so I no longer uses it. Get a charger that has micro-processor control. I now use an OEM unit of Maha C204F which charges a set of 1850mAh in less than 4 hours. Once the charger senses the batteries are fully charged (don't ask me how it knows that), it backs off to a safe current (trickle charge current) to keep your batteries fully charged in the charger until you're ready to use it, and it won't damage batteries. Maha has a newer model that charges a set in less than 2 hours and has trickle feature. There are other brands of chargers have similar functionalities but I haven't tried them.
