Can someone point me to a e-tailer that carries one at a reasonable price? I've bought 2 so far that "claimed" to be compatible, but I guess the really just meant it would fit 52mm threads :-/

I'd prefer a 3X to boost the CD300's paltry 3X optical, everything I've tried so far shows the barrel in all but max zoom... unacceptable.

I can't even find a lens compatibility chart showing what will fit (and work) with the CD300.

I am certain many here have been down this road.... I hope!

FWIW, the CD300 is virtually identical to the CD400, and I know the wide angle lens for the F707 works with this camera too. Perhaps a tele for the F707 would work as well?

Here is a link:

http://www.raynox.co.jp/english/digital/egdigital.htm

Go to the lower half of the page to select your Raynox model

But I do not know much about raynox from a quality standpoint. Note that they make add-ons for the 717/707 also. If somebody would care to comment?

Thanks Jay,

Unfortunately the Raynox 1850Pro (1.8X) is the lens I just ordered. It is listed as compatible with the CD300, but it isn't.

Unless I have the camera zoom to full optical (3X), vignetting is apparent. Heck, when I back the CD300 lens to wide angle 70% of the picture is lost to vignetting. I have to accept nothing less than 5X zoom with this thing on my camera... and from 5-10X is digital zoom, which I try to avoid.

Isn't there anyone here that owns a CD300 and has added a tele converter that works throughout the CD300's zoom range?

Thanks again Jay, I appreciate the reply.

Most packaged teleconverter instructions explicitly state that the camera should be at full zoom to prevent darkening of the edges(vignetting).

To find an add on lens that allows some vignette free zoom range is simply a bonus.

It is rather difficult to find a good quality 2X lens.A good 3X is just about out of the question.Olympus has one for the E series but it is quite expensive, very heavy, and large. It requires a special mounting platform.

Most decent TC's are in the 1.4X-1.85X range. The Raynox is quite sharp but only at the center.Sharpness falls off rapidly toward the edges.Normally you get what you pay for.
