Does anybody have experience with Nixvue Vista?

I have the Nixvue Digital Album but if the Vista is made as well as my DA, it should perform well. And, Nixvue is a great company to deal with. My battery cover broke and I emailed them. Within two days I had two new covers mailed from Singapore. I live in San Diego so it didn't take long.

When I couldn't get the Travel Jack from any local dealers, I emailed Nixvue and they arranged to send me one. I sent a check and when the check cleared their bank, the Travel Jack was on its way even though they don't normally sell directly to customers. If I could have transferred the funds from my bank to theirs, it would have gone out the same day. Since they don't sell direct, they are not set up to accept credit cards.

Several times I had questions and emailed and received prompt replies. I highly recommend this company and their products. My DA has a 20 gig hard drive but I can't see the photos. Recently, we went to the Baltics, Scandinavia and Russia. I downloaded 1500 photos during our three week stay. No problem with airport security either...
I'd appreciate your comments, pro and con.

Aloha,

We(the Wife and I) got a Nixvue Digital Album earlier this year for our trip to Australia. We had problems, at first we thought it was the Digital Album itself. We were e-mailing every one from Singapore to Jobo in US. We pretty much probably drove every one nuts. The problem turned out to be a bad USB hub. Once we plugged the DA into the PC directly, it worked like a charm. Nixvue's support is beyond excellent.

We have the 20gb model and travel pack. We took two Olympus C-2100UZs to Australia. One of us had a camera everywhere we went. We ended up with a total of 1700 plus photos. Used less than 2gb of the 20gb capacity. Wife is happy as she is into scrapbooking. In retrospect, we should have taken MORE photos and tried to fill up the DA.

No problems with airport x-rays. Put cameras, digital film and Nixvue in camera case and sent everything thru security scanner. If we were using film, we would have worried as Kodak and Fuji both have cautions about film and x-rays on their sites.

The new Nixvue Vista has more bells and whistles. A friend has the Delkin version. He's due back from a 3 week trip to the US East coast anyday now. Expect to hear from him soon. But he hasn't called(on cell phone to ask for help) so the Delkin must be doing well for him and his kids.

My .02 cents is get more storage than you think you'll need. Having extra storage is better than needing more and not having on a trip. That's why we got the biggest they had at the time.

I also have a Nixvue 20GB Digital Album, and if it's anything like their newer Vista, I think you'll like it. I have nothing but good things to say about mine. I used 19.99GB of space on my last two week trip (3,433 images using mostly 4-8MB/image RAW). All my transfers, from CF to DA in the field and from DA to my PC at home went smoooothly. Not a single image lost or corrupted.

Because I need more space, I got an external firewire HD (80GB) to use with my notebook I'm bringing on subsequent trips. One of the nice things about the Vista is that you can easily see how much space is remaining and do a check after transferring, just my their DA.

Me too, I have a Digital Album, One of the first ever sold--before they were on the US market, The support from the factory is the very best, It is also the only company brave enough to answer calls for help directly on this forum. Im delighted with the almost three years of trouble free use of my DA, I have placed my order for the Vista.

You guys were very helpful. Now if I can just decide between the Nixvue and the Delkin. . .

Jim.

The Nixvue and Delkin are both made by Nixvue and are almost identical units, I think the Delkin package may offer a better deal in the US. I suspect that firmware updates may appear a little quicker for the Nixvue.

I have the Delkin unit and am VERY happy with it! Yes, the firmware updates are a bit slower to come out (about 2-3 weeks slower, it seems). However, their support is very good and the unit works really well right out of the box. Good sales and shipping policies too (don't let the ugly web ordering site discourage you!)...I got my unit about 20 hours after I ordered it!

Jim,

I have the Delkin unit and am very happy with it. I chose the Delkin unit over the Nixvue because of the longer warranty (1yr for the Nixvue vs 2yr for the Delkin) and the extra software that comes with the Delkin model (Photoshop Elements 1.0). Also, and Nixvue owners can correct me if I'm wrong, I read that the Vista has poor documentation compared to the PicturePad.

Other than that it's only a matter of color. Both companies' support is excellent and very responsive, although it's true that Delkin is a bit slower with the Firmware updates. I'm presuming that they get them from Nixvue and rework them with Delkin's own software. Delkin support staff have notified me directly when there are updates though, so that's pretty amazing support!

Just my two cents. Enjoy!

Rory
