???Nikon EVIL on NikonRumors

One of the ugliest things I've ever seen in a camera. And what's with the lens? Must just be a prototype for show. I can't imagine Nikon producing a separate line of lenses to go with this new body.

I think it looks different and attractive.

What can be seen and read in the picture (in english) is that the maual behind it says "Model Concept", the manual seems to be for the stuff behind the camera o nthe table.

The lens says "18-55 1:3.5 - 4.6 G ED"

More than that cannot be read my be.

They should concentrate on a 24MP small size body.....
with high iso capabilities just like a D700 not on gimmicky
fashion ......
Black is beautiful !
Listen to the user - base !

Just posed today: http://nikonrumors.com/ . Does anyone know what this is?

Don't think it's an EVIL, it seems to have the f-mount lens register, which would be absurd for an EVIL (take away its advantage at a stroke).

My guess is it's a design student's project, since it doesn't share any of the normal Nikon design cues (V shaped groove on the prism cover, red flash on grip, etc) and controls look very basic.

If it's not that, second guess is D1000 (designed to be 'cute' for some imaginary womens' market).

It is a concept camera (not a compact hybrid camera system we will see next year)

Sounds like a good guess to me.

For the Oprah market, perhaps? ;-)

I think listening to the user base would be a good concept for a concept

Hi Peter,

I think that Nikon listens quite well to their user base, especially when it comes to professional users and usage. The problem for many is does Nikon listen to 'me' :-)
1.000.000 prof users 1.000.000 wishes & improvements :-)

My brain isn't working right now, apparently. Can you explain how EVIL would have any effect at all on lens registration if you are trying to keep lens compatibility across your line of existing lenses?

If it's an EVIL camera, why would it have a prism?

Just because there's a bump above the lens mount does not mean there is a prism.

Look at the GH1, GH2 m43 cameras. A bump is still potentially needed for the EVF optics and a built-in flash.
